Swimming!

Taking two little kids swimming is no small feat when in our regular environment, so I guess it's not surprising we've never been swimming in a pool before. Thankfully we picked a hotel with both an indoor and outdoor pool, because the weather has been pretty cool here so far. Last night after dinner we headed to the indoor pool!

The kids were pretty wary at first,




But both Derek & I hung out in the shallow area and eventually they wanted to come in and join us.


They LOVED it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


We played and swam and splashed for a long time! We will definitely be swimming every day that we're here!

Today

Today I went to a yoga class for the first time in far too many years. It felt wonderful and pushed me out of my comfort zone. I can't wait to go back! Today Derek gave Silas his traditional mid-summer haircut. Today the weather was perfect and we enjoyed bike rides (them) / a walk (me) in the park after lunch. Today Zoe chased the cats until they succumbed to her love and adoration. Today I put the garbage on the curb for weekly pickup and realized that we didn't have any! We recycle and compost far more than we throw away. I am grateful to be able to teach Zoe & Silas these habits. Empty trash barrel Countertop compost bin  Backyard compost bin that we bought at Town Hall Food compost, including the hair from Silas' haircut today! Today I checked on the rooftop vegetable patio garden - it's doing great! Today we went school supply shopping so that I can enjoy the last month of summer without worrying abou...

Summer Nights

As we hit the end of July we are relishing the relaxed summer nights around here. Walks to the corner store after work- Kitten snoozes in the window- Playing outside after dinner- And after dinner bike rides in the park aplenty. The best part is when they ride down the "big hill" out of the woods and we make the loop home. These are the days.
