365: Day 217 + Gymnastics Report

8/5/14: Julia texted me these two pictures of the kids around 5:00 yesterday... Apparently they were all tuckered out from gymnastics. Speaking of, here is the weekly report!

Gymnastics Report, Week 3

Gymnastics, Week 2

And now for the weekly gymnastics report...

Gymnastics

Zoe & Silas had their first gymnastics class of the summer today. Here is what Silas had to say about it (apologies for the poor lighting)-

365: Day 353- Preschool Holiday Concert

12/20/13: Friday morning was S&Z's holiday concert at preschool. I got a few pictures of them in front of the tree before we left. We were curious to see if either of them would sing this year, as  last year they did not. Zoe was totally into it, and Silas just covered his ears and turned away from everyone. I took a couple of videos so the grandparents can see how they did. As much as I love having them in school, I'm looking forward to a 2 week break from the Getting-Ready-For-School Morning Olympics!

What do you want to be when you grow up?

Zoe and Silas have recently started talking about what they want to be when they grow up. A few days ago Zoe said that she wanted to be "a scientist, like Mommy". Yesterday Silas said he wanted to be a doctor. As of today they have both decided that working in emergency services "like Daddy" is the way to go. This will be a fun conversation to track now this milestone has been hit. Stay tuned!

365: Day 193- Blueberry Picking

7/13/13: We had so much fun picking strawberries last month that we planned another visit to Ward's Berry Farm  today. We met up with Wendy and the fam again, this time to pick some blueberries. It was a damp and cool morning which meant there were very few people out picking. The kids had a lot of room to run around. Blueberry picking is a lot easier than picking strawberries because blueberries grow on bushes. The kids have gotten the hang of all this berry picking business by now- when you find a berry that is deep in color, you pick it!  Most of the time it goes in the basket,    but sometimes you just have to eat it! When we were done picking we headed to the playground to ride S&Z's favorite horses. Zoe LOVES riding the horse - she figured out the mechanics of push-pull last time we were here and she can get going pretty darn high! This video is funny because you can hear her excitedly ta...

365: Day 132- Mother's Day Concert

5/13/12: S&Z had a Mother's Day concert at school on Monday over the noon hour. I met Derek and the kids there on my lunch break - there was no way I was going to miss this! It's so fun to see them playing with all the friends they have made this year. Shane (red shirt) is definitely one of their best friends as the school year comes to a close. There were a lot of kids there because they combined the two 3-year-old classes as well as the 4-year-old class for the "concert". All the kids were so cute as they filed in to sing! For the first two songs both kids just stood there and looked around. Zoe stayed in one place, whereas Silas wandered out of line a bit. Zoe seemed to like the third song so she sang and did most of the movements. Silas on the other hand was so off task that Miss Ellen came over around 0:48 on the video :) Derek and I just kept looking at each other throughout the program saying "what is he doing?!". ...

365: Day 64- Half Year Hell

3/5/13: My day started with screaming and ended up with screaming and sandwiched in between was lots of work stress so I will keep this brief. Parents often say that around birthdays and half-year marks that kids become more difficult. This has definitely been true for us since they turned a year old, and as we are coming up on 3-1/2 and we are there once again. Warning: check the volume before you press play! The camera view was angled in order to protect the identities of all involved parties ;)

Day 2 of Blizzard 'Nemo'

Derek got home a little before midnight last night, but he still needed to deal with parking the car before he could come inside. We got a 2nd car this fall which is the one he uses for work, so the van was nestled in a huge snowbank in our driveway. He let me know once he got home and then headed back out in the blizzard to park the car. At least a foot of snow had accumulated by this point and he couldn't even turn down the side street where our neighbor friends live and had offered parking. Wearing his fluorescent EMS coat he flagged down a snow plow and asked him the plow a few hundred feet so that he could at least turn down the street. The guy was nice enough to help, but Derek still had to shovel a good chunk of the way to Alex & Tracy's driveway. There was no way he could get up into the driveway at that point, so he dug out a spot directly in front of their driveway on the street. It was after 1am when he got inside, soaking wet and exhausted. And this is all ...
