The Creature Teachers

One of the main reasons we wanted to buy this house is because of the location. Our backyard abuts a beautiful, 90-acre park. Not only do we treasure the green space (and the fact that no one will ever build behind our house!), but I also love the fact that the park is the center of this wonderful community. They offer lots of programming for young and old. Every Sunday afternoon in the summer they run an entertainment program geared towards kids, and on the docket today was a visit from  The Creature Teachers . The weather was absolutely gorgeous - 75 degrees and sunny! Before the show started we enjoyed some handcrafted ice cream from the  Crescent Ridge  truck. Today it was oreo for Silas and vanilla for Zoe.  The performance space at the park is pretty awesome! The Creature Teacher running today's show was very engaging and knowledgeable. All 3 of us learned a lot! We met Holly the Flying Squirrel, a milk snake, a box turtle, a porcupine named Otis,...

365: Day 271- A Pony Party!

It was a gorgeous day on Sunday for Holly & Kylee's birthday party. Holly is turning 6 and Kylee just turned 3, so Ricky & Heidi decided to throw them a pony party. There was a petting zoo set up that was a big surprise when we arrived! Silas spent some quality time with the goats, duck, chickens, and bunnies, while Zoe took a few pony rides. As soon as she finished one ride she got back in line to wait for another one. Meanwhile, Silas discovered a couple of kittens adjacent to the other animals. It was a great day spent with friends! Happy Birthday, Holly & Kylee!!!

365: Day 154- Drumlin Farm

Since I worked on Sunday I decided to take today off to hang with the fam. It was a gorgeous day so we planned to visit  Drumlin Farm . Unfortunately S&Z woke up early this morning - 5:19am to be exact. They were pretty tired by 9:30 so we parked them in front of "Dinosaur Train" to relax while we got ready and packed a picnic lunch. When we got to Lincoln it was shaping up to be a gorgeous June day. It's so nice this year to not have to use strollers for outings like this.  First we stopped at the Crossroads Barn, which was under construction the last time we visited. Because it's springtime on the farm there were lots of baby animals to see; the lambs in particular were soooo cute! We have never seen the fields where the farm grows vegetables for the CSA, so we made a detour to check that out. Then it was time to see more animals! I used the front view camera to get a picture of S&Z saying hi to the fisher cat . ...

The VIP Visits the Aquarium

The VIP weeks at school have been such a great way to give some individual attention to S&Z. It can be hard to have your own spotlight as a twin, so I have loved seeing each of them shine on their own (although the other kid is never far away!). I had reserved some museum passes from the library last month and it just so happened that the Science Museum passes  coincided with the Friday of Zoe's VIP week and the Aquarium passes were reserved for the Friday of Silas' VIP week. All of us have been excited to visit Aquarium and today was finally the day! It was COLD along the Harbor this morning, but the kids were so excited to see the water! We were welcomed at the entrance of the Aquarium by the sea lions. The kids were so funny, I had to shoot a little video. We headed straight to the touch tanks once we got inside. We spent some time with the jellyfish, which is one of my favorite exhibits. And we got up close to one of the turtles. ...
