365: Day 132- Mother's Day Concert

5/13/12: S&Z had a Mother's Day concert at school on Monday over the noon hour. I met Derek and the kids there on my lunch break - there was no way I was going to miss this! It's so fun to see them playing with all the friends they have made this year. Shane (red shirt) is definitely one of their best friends as the school year comes to a close. There were a lot of kids there because they combined the two 3-year-old classes as well as the 4-year-old class for the "concert". All the kids were so cute as they filed in to sing! For the first two songs both kids just stood there and looked around. Zoe stayed in one place, whereas Silas wandered out of line a bit. Zoe seemed to like the third song so she sang and did most of the movements. Silas on the other hand was so off task that Miss Ellen came over around 0:48 on the video :) Derek and I just kept looking at each other throughout the program saying "what is he doing?!". ...

365: Day 112

4/22/13: There is something about these particular pajamas that make them instantly start doing ring around the rosie ...

365: Day 91- Happy Birthday, Momma!

4/1/13: The best birthday present of all.

366: Day 338

12/3/12: Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way! They learned the words to the chorus sometime last week. We knew they were awake on Sunday morning when we heard Zoe belt into song over the monitor. Tonight it started out when both of them grabbed a bell decoration and started singing; unfortunately I only got Zoe on video.

Our Silly Monkeys

This is what mornings look like at our house...

More ABC's

They are so cute. And so loud...

Singing

We were snuggling after work tonight and I snapped a few pictures with the front camera on my iPhone. They asked me to take a video, and then immediately started singing. Silas was a little stiff at first because they were watching the video as it was shot, but they got over it pretty quickly. I thought they were done, but when they kept singing I shot another video. My favorite part is when they say "I'm thinking"... (straight outta Blue's Clues ). As a parent, it just doesn't get much cuter than your kids singing!!!

Wheels on the Bus

We recently checked out this book from the library, and as often happens these days, the kids have memorized most of it. Zoe in particular loves to sing it before bed, and I finally got a video. It's a long, drawn out version but really cute nonetheless! In this version, there are animals on the bus. Here's what they do: Flamingoes go flap, flap, flap Zebra goes chomp, chomp, chomp (although she thinks it jumps!) Monkeys go chatter, chatter, chatter Hyena goes ha, ho, he Crocodile goes snap, snap, snap Chameleon goes hide and seek Bush babies go snore, snore, snore Driver says are we there yet?

366: Day 130

5/9/12: [To the tune of "Wheels on the Bus"] This is the way we brush our teeth, brush our teeth, brush our teeth This is the way we brush our teeth,  Before we go to bed!

Playing in the Crib + Singing

They wanted to play in their cribs the other night when I got home from work. They were being so cute with tucking the animals in that I shot a quick video. Here they are singing at the table after dinner tonight.

Singing

We have a couple of books that are essentially illustrated song lyrics. My friend Rachel just gave us " Blowin' in the Wind " - you can't but help to sing the song as you're reading the book. We also have " Over the Rainbow " - it's a tougher tune to sing (well), but it's also catchy so the kids have started singing it on their own. Here is my new favorite video of all-time. They are just singing away while looking at random books, as our favorite bedtime c.d. plays in the background. They also sing "Tomorrow" once in awhile - here is just a glimpse of Zoe playing around and giving it a go. First and foremost, Derek is an amazing musician. My sister is a classically trained flutist, I played the clarinet all through high school, my mom loves to sing, my great-grandmother played the piano, and Derek's brother and parents are all great singers as well. I hope S&Z lucked out and inherited some musical genes!!!
