365: Day 327- Recipes of the Week

11/24/13: We went to the gym on Sunday morning. On our way out to the car S&Z decided to trade sunglasses... After nap we ran to LL Bean to find a solution to my power walking outerwear dilemma. It was so cold outside that we had to pull out S&Z's [new-to-us] winter coats. No one was too happy about this weather development! *****  Cook's Notes : Looking ahead to a shortened work week, cooking was again dispersed throughout the weekend. On Friday I made fried rice, which is an old standby. You can use any vegetables that you have on hand. This time around I included red pepper, carrot, and broccoli. Easy Fried Rice CATEGORIES   asian, vegetarian, rice INGREDIENTS 1  T. vegetable oil 2  scallions, chopped 2  eggs, beaten 1/2  c. frozen chopped spinach* 1/2  c. frozen peas 1  c. leftover brown rice Low sodium soy sauce or tamari, to taste INSTRUCTIONS In a wok or saute pan, heat ...

365: Day 288

10/16/13: It was school picture day on Wednesday. I really wanted to get a picture of them in their outfits, but this was the only one I could get of Silas being uncooperative. Instead, they decided to take their shirts off and have a dance party in the kitchen.

365: Day 225

8/14/13: Making snow angels. No, I'm serious.

365: Day 182

7/2/13: It's almost 90 degrees and she's wearing a puppy dog for a shawl.

365: Day 161

6/11/13: Playing a "funny game" before bed.

365: Day 112

4/22/13: There is something about these particular pajamas that make them instantly start doing ring around the rosie ...

365: Day 80

3/21/13: We have lots and lots of gender-neutral pajamas that both kids wear, but we do have a few pairs of gender-specific pj's as well. Tonight Zoe wanted to wear the alien pj's that Terry gave Silas for Xmas, so Silas decided he wanted to wear the frog pj's that Zoe got from Terry. They negotiated a pajama swap and then  S announced "I look like a girl" and  Z walked around saying "I look like a boy". Over and over and over. Not sure how well this is going to bode with the hubs...

365: Day 23

1/23/13: Zoe showing her "mad" face (but she really just looks so darn cute in her snowman pajamas and polka dot slippers!).

366: Day 331

11/26/12: Silas with his "spikes".

366: Day 198

7/16/12: Playing around with the Photo Booth app on Mommy's new iPad.

366: Day 143

5/22/12: Fish face.

366: Day 132

5/11/12: A motley crew, at the zoo!

After Work

Let me just say that the days of relaxing after a long day at work are LONG GONE. There's no rest, even when you're sick (boo-hoo, I have a cold right now). At least they didn't make me do somersaults too :-) They definitely keep me laughing!

366: Day 47

2/16/12: Silas trying to diaper Pooh with a piece of wax paper.

366: Day 37

2/6/12: Two little goofballs eating apples directly off the table. I think it started as a no-handed enterprise, but Silas' kept slipping around on the paper napkin so his hands got involved to keep it still so he could still get a bite...

Hot Hot Hot

As it has been across much of the country these days, it's hot hot hot here in Boston. It's 90 degrees at 8:30pm as I write this post. It was too hot this morning to bring the kids to the park, so Derek hung out on the back deck where they could stay cool with the water table. They were looking ready for some hot weather this morning! After breakfast they had fun playing with Daddy's laundry basket before heading outside. Where's Zoe?! I was happy to hear that Grand Forks had cooled down as of this morning. Hopefully the more moderate temps will be eventually making their way east!

Who's Getting Out First?

The biggest negotiation around here lately is who is getting out of the bathtub first. They both love the water and they love playing together in the tub. I pulled out the video camera to try and capture their reaction to the question, "who's getting out first?". Typically when you ask them, they both dive onto their bellies and stick their little butts up in the air so that it's more difficult to grab them. Silas is demonstrating in this picture, They were distracted by the camera when I came back into the bathroom, but they did show off some of their goofiness at the end :) We recently joined the Roslindale Community Center, which includes free access to the community (indoor) pool. We are hoping to capitalize on their current love of water and get them comfortable in the pool before our vacation in August!
