366: Day 335

11/30/12: Checking out the goliath groupers at the Aquarium .

The VIP Visits the Aquarium

The VIP weeks at school have been such a great way to give some individual attention to S&Z. It can be hard to have your own spotlight as a twin, so I have loved seeing each of them shine on their own (although the other kid is never far away!). I had reserved some museum passes from the library last month and it just so happened that the Science Museum passes  coincided with the Friday of Zoe's VIP week and the Aquarium passes were reserved for the Friday of Silas' VIP week. All of us have been excited to visit Aquarium and today was finally the day! It was COLD along the Harbor this morning, but the kids were so excited to see the water! We were welcomed at the entrance of the Aquarium by the sea lions. The kids were so funny, I had to shoot a little video. We headed straight to the touch tanks once we got inside. We spent some time with the jellyfish, which is one of my favorite exhibits. And we got up close to one of the turtles.

School Pictures

Melt my heart, we got S&Z's first-ever school pictures back today. Whenever I look at this picture and see the laceration below Zoe's eye, I will remember that Silas threw a rock that hit her in the face just a few days prior to Picture Day. Who, me?? The class picture is hilarious because it captures each of their personalities perfectly -  (Silas being silly and Zoe being sullen).  Just click on the picture to make it bigger... Love, love, love.

366: Day 334

11/29/12: Silas wearing his VIP crown!

Silas' VIP Week

Thankfully the teachers at school are smart enough to know that twins should have their VIP weeks scheduled pretty close together. After having a short week for the Thanksgiving holiday, we geared up this week for Silas to take the VIP spotlight. I realized a few weeks ago when I caught Silas randomly reciting the Pledge of Allegiance that he already has it memorized. Part of being the VIP involves holding the flag pole during the PoA. Both S&Z have been pretending to do this using a pink toy broom that they got for their birthday. On Thanksgiving I was on the phone with my mom when I noticed that Silas was wearing the pilgrim hat they made in school last week. He was also holding the broom and chasing after Zoe yelling "SAY THE UNITED STATES!!!" over and over again. I realized that he was pretending to be VIP (pilgrim hat = crown and broom = flag pole) and he wanted Zoe to recite the PoA, which she doesn't know yet (as far as I know). Needless to say, Silas was re

366: Day 333

11/28/12: The kids wake up between 7 and 7:30 these days, and Derek needs to be up around 7:30 on the days that I work. S&Z have recently started waking him up in the morning. What this typically entails is Zoe blasting the door open so that it bumps up against the bed. Then both kids stand there and stare at him until he opens his eyes. Zoe is recovering from a bad tumble on Sunday night that resulted in a big goose egg on her forehead, so today she decided to just climb into bed with Daddy and tell him that her boo-boo still hurts... And of course Silas was right behind her :)

366: Day 332

11/27/12: It is Silas' VIP week!!!

366: Day 331

11/26/12: Silas with his "spikes".

366: Day 330

11/25/12: Relishing the last few bites of the last piece of Thanksgiving pie.

The Kid Loves Dessert

Zoe has a serious sweet tooth. She ate an entire bowl of turkey tetrazzini that she wasn't too fond of for dinner tonight, just to get the last piece of Thanksgiving pecan pie. Yummmmm, it's smothered in cool whip. She eventually picked it up, And ate it with her hands! Yup, she's got a sweet tooth alright. Silas thought it was pretty darn good too :)

366: Day 329

11/24/12: The cutest cousin sandwich ever. I had a hard time getting a picture with all 3 of them smiling, but don't be fooled by the look on Silas' face. He loves this as much as the girls do! S&Z have been walking around all week talking about how much they love Kaylan, in anticipation of spending some quality time with her on Thanksgiving.

366: Day 328

11/23/12: Instead of bombarding the kids with gifts on Christmas morning, my mom gives them presents to open at various points between Thanksgiving and New Year's. S&Z were very excited to open the first gift (a book about snowmen) this weekend!
