Now that's a salad

Derek and I have been LOVING our weekly farm share this summer. This is the first year we have had a share, and it will definitely not be our last! Every Tuesday it is a surprise to see what we have in the box for the week. We love the large head of green or red leaf lettuce get every week. I have never eaten so many yummy salads in my life! This week our salads were enhanced with radicchio and arugula. I hard-boiled an egg and Derek grilled up a chicken breast and voila! Other staples of the share so far have been radishes, spring garlic, swiss chard, and beets. We are eating lots of sauteed chard and beet greens with garlic, onions, and red pepper flakes. Delicious! This was our first week of new potatoes, so we did those on the grill along with the chicken breasts. The babies are indirectly getting lots of local, seasonal, organic produce this summer! We received the Beaba Babycook (aka, the magic baby food maker) as a shower gift, so we are hoping to make our own baby food when the

The Best Co-Workers (Evah)!

Since Vanessa and I are both pregnant, the LCN (Labs of Cognitive Neuroscience) decided to throw us a joint baby shower. The LCN is very lucky to have a self-appointed "Party Planning Committee" (aka, the PPC, which consists of Eliza, Kristine & Rebecca G). Chuck's wife, Gwen, came from downtown to join us, and Lenny, Sandy, Rachel & Rosetta came down from the hospital! Everyone enjoyed the yummy Panera catering! Apparently this was the first baby shower Chuck ever attended, and it will likely be his last if he can help it. He & Lenny sat across the room from one another sending text messages throughout the entire gift opening :) Speaking of gifts, I was again taken aback by everyone's gener

A Milestone

I am 23 weeks along as of Wednesday and everything is going great! I continue to enjoy my CenteringPregnancy group meetings, and now those happen every two weeks instead of every month. It's amazing how much support and information they provide! I was very surprised to find out this week that my midwife, Denise, also has twins -- a boy and a girl who turned 13 years old this week. Denise's twins have two older siblings in their 20s, and the OB nurse that helps run the group also has four kids. Together they provide a wealth of practical knowledge! We've been talking a lot about childbirth and breastfeeding. I'm taking a breastfeeding class this Wednesday morning, so I am looking forward to getting more information about how to successfully breastfeed two babies. Not only will it be great for their health and immune systems, but it will also save us a lot of $$. I recently read that newborns typically eat 8-10 times per day, so we'll be dealing with 16-20 feedings pe
