366: Day 180

6/28/12: Enjoying our last day on the beach.

The Face of Happiness

My iPhone has a front camera feature, so it's fun and easy to take pictures of yourself. I took a few on vacation so I wanted to post, along with a note to self: Ridgevale Beach, Chatham MA Overlook of Cape Cod National Seashore, Truro MA Race Point Beach, Provincetown MA Race Point Beach, Provincetown MA Corporation Beach, Dennis MA   That is the face of happiness.

The National Seashore

After our impromptu lighthouse tour we headed to the National Seashore in Provincetown. We decided to picnic at Race Point Beach, which I have visited one other time a few years ago. Rachel and I did a day trip via ferry to P-town in 2008. Without much planning we ended up walking from the town center to Race Point because we wanted to see the National Seashore. We knew we wanted to go to Provincetown and one of the National Seashore beaches one day, so I printed out the info about overlooks and we had it in our stack of stuff. On Wednesday the forecast looked great so we hit the road first thing for our mini road trip and day of exploring. We first stopped at Nauset Light Beach in Eastham because it was listed on the NPS sheet as a scenic route. There just happened to be a lighthouse there as well! I love lighthouses - they remind me of the North Shore of MN, as well as a trip I took to the Oregon coast over a decade ago. When we saw a sign for the Three Sisters Lighthouses just a mile away, we decided to stop. The next stop on the scenic tour list was the Highland Lighthouse and Highland House in Truro. This was my favorite of the 3 lighthouses. It is also the oldest Cape Cod light
