Summer Nights

As we hit the end of July we are relishing the relaxed summer nights around here. Walks to the corner store after work- Kitten snoozes in the window- Playing outside after dinner- And after dinner bike rides in the park aplenty. The best part is when they ride down the "big hill" out of the woods and we make the loop home. These are the days.

365: Day 247

9/4/14: Just another summer day at the park, this time baking a birthday cake!

365: Day 240

8/28/14: Derek took the kids to the zoo on Thursday morning. They had so much fun feeding the budgies!

365: Days 228 & 229 - A Quick Getaway

8/16-8/17/14: We enjoyed a quick getaway this weekend with the P family to Megan's parents summer cottage. The cottage is in an adorable resort community in Westford, MA where everyone gets around by golf cart. The weather was nice so first we hung out by the pond. Later in the afternoon we headed to the heated pool. We even played some basketball before heading back to the cottage to grill steaks for dinner. Lizzie came along for the weekend, so S&Z spent some solid time bonding with her. Derek was off on Sunday so Zoe insisted that Daddy read the bedtime story once we got back home... It was a great weekend spent relaxing with friends!

365: Day 222- Dinner at Nantasket Beach

8/10/14: Derek was off today so we wanted to get organized for the week, as well as get out to enjoy the gorgeous weather. We hit the gym in the morning and then came home for lunch as well as to do some weekly food prep. I made salmon croquettes for the kids while Derek grilled up a couple of chicken breasts. I made a batch of Lentil & Spinach Masala  and rice for the week, and we made big salads for dinner. We headed to Nantasket Beach in Hull, MA in the late afternoon. The water is really warm there so we had a lot of fun jumping waves! I have found Sunday evenings at the beach to be the best way to rejuvenate before the work madness begins on Monday morning! Who's taller now?! The kids had a lot of fun digging and running in the sand. It was a great night all around!

365: Day 194

7/13/14: I paid party penance this morning and logged 4 miles at the Y. When I picked up Zoe & Silas from Child Watch, all the kids were playing "cooking competition". It was the cutest thing I've ever seen! I spent the afternoon in the kitchen making food for the first part of the week (burrito bowls, mini meatloaves, mashed potatoes, and steamed vegetables), while S&Z stayed cool playing in the back yard.

Increasingly Behind...

I am really behind on my posts! Between being back to work full-time and doing lots of fun stuff this summer, I officially am in a blog hole. I haven't even finished posting pictures from Maryland a few weeks ago and now we just got home from an awesome weekend of camping on the Cape... Unfortunately, the blog as we know it is coming to an end. I will have to decide ASAP if I can backfill the last few weeks or not. In the meantime, thanks for hanging with me, dears!

365: Day 170- Maryland Day 1

6/19/14: On Thursday it was hot hot HOT! We got the kids out for a walk in Tracy's neighborhood in the morning, Which ultimately started and ended at "the hole" on Tracy's street. She lives on a cul-de-sac and there is a broken portion of curb that fills with rainwater. The kids sat there and played for a long time, pretending they were making "spicy gumbo".  After lunch we got out the pools and sprinkler out in the backyard. It was a perfect first day of vacation!

365: Day 160

6/9/14: Back at the splash park with Ta-ta!

365: Day 159- Inaugural Beach Day!

6/8/14: On Saturday night a couple of our friends told us about South Shore Beach in Little Compton, Rhode Island. It sounded like such a special place that we decided to check it out the next day! We had some things to do in the morning, so we decided to head down there for a Sunday supper picnic. It proved to be such a perfect spot! We got there at 5:00 as the parking lot was clearing out. It had been in the high 80s that afternoon, so it was cooling down to more tolerable temperatures when we arrived. It was high tide so we set up our spot very near to where we were parked. So convenient! S&Z were so happy to jump the waves and play in the sand! We couldn't have asked for a more perfect first day at the beach...
