366: Day 91

3/31/12: While I was out getting a pedicure today, S&Z decided to "bake" me a birthday cake. They were so cute and excited to show me the cake when I got home. Little did they know that magnet with dinosaur and doll clothes frosting is my favorite!

The Good (and the Rest)

This is what my  Kairos time  looks like every day. It balances the chronos time that often looks like this . It's easy to feel like we have a double case of two-year-old-itis these days.  So I'm really try to embrace the good stuff. And just laugh at the rest...

We love Aditi

And we love circle time! Aditi will always hold a very special place in our hearts as S&Z's first teacher.

Birthday Love

Oh boy, do I love my birthday! I've managed to post about it every year since I started the blog- read what we were up to in  2010 and 2011 . This year I'm stretching out the birthday love over far more weeks than a non-significant bday of 37 years deserves. I kicked off the celebration last weekend with Wendy at Union St Bar & Grill in Newton. This weekend I met up with Teresa at Kiku Yama in Dedham. I've never eaten at a Japanese steakhouse before. It was quite the show (and delicious too)!   And the fun has just started! This Thursday I'm meeting Andee for tapas, the 7th is dinner with Iris, and on the 14th I'm meeting up with all the twin moms from the hospital (along with a few honorary attendees). Derek and I will finally get to celebrate by going out on April 22nd when my mom is in town. My actual birthday is April Fool's Day, a week from today, so we'll also celebrate as a family by going to the zoo or aquarium. I was dressed up t

What's for Dinner?

We skype with my Dad & Mary on Sunday nights, usually for about an hour. The fridge was wiped clean of of all leftovers (except for brown rice) due to lots of time around home this weekend, so we needed something quick and easy for dinner tonight. They love rice, so I decided to whip up some simple fried rice before our skype date. Of course both kids wanted to help... S&Z's "Yummy" Fried Rice 1 T. vegetable oil 2 scallions, chopped 2 eggs, beaten 1/2 c. frozen chopped spinach* 1/2 c. frozen peas 1 c. leftover brown rice Low sodium soy sauce or tamari, to taste *Usually I use steamed broccoli and/or carrots, but didn't have either on hand and wanted to keep it fast. Spinach packs such a nutritional punch, and it ended up tasting delicious! In a wok or saute pan, heat oil over medium heat . Add scallions and spinach; cook for a few minutes. Pour in beaten eggs and scramble with the spinach and green onions. Once cooked through, add the ric

366: Day 81

3/21/12: Big trouble first thing this morning. They had somehow pulled Silas' crib over to the window from the middle of the room, alongside Zoe's crib, and this was the result... Zoe knew I was mad, and she kept saying over and over, "Momma happy? Momma happy now."

Auntie Tracy's Visit

Tracy is one of my best friends, but I haven't seen her in person in two years ! This means that I hadn't met her daughter, Brynn, who turns 2 in June. I was sooooooooo excited when I found out that Tracy and Brynn would be visiting Tracy's sister, Timery this weekend. We decided to meet at Mall Tots  again so that the kids could run around and we could catch up. It's a 45 minute drive and it was a beautiful day, so the kids were hunkered down with sunglasses, snack and stuffed animals on the ride up. Zoe and Brynn initially got acquainted in the bouncy house, And then Zoe pushed her around in a car.   Of course my kids (and husband!) had plenty of distraction with the video games too. We packed up the kids and then had lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings before heading back home. Timery and Tracy are like sisters to me. What a fantastic day!!!
