365: Day 89

3/30/14: On Sunday morning we went to the Y. When we picked S&Z up from the Child Watch room they were very excited to show us what they created with Lincoln Logs! Silas has been working VERY hard recently on writing his letters and numbers. He prefers to do this work at my desk, instead of at their craft table (which is currently a MESS!). Sometimes he writes on blank paper, and at other times he writes on things like birthday party invitations :) Per usual, we had a Jet Set Radio dance party before dinner. Just another Sunday...

365: Day 82

3/23/14: On Sunday we took it easy. In the morning Stephanie and I went to the gym and then did a little shopping before Derek went to work. Before dinner Silas' favorite electronica radio show, Jet Set Radio , came on. Of course we had to have a little dance party! S&Z enjoyed a final storytime with Auntie and Uncle on their last night in Boston.

365: Day 76

3/17/14: Monday night dance party as Ta-ta was getting ready to leave!

365: Day 56

2/25/14: Bedtime bum dance!

365: Day 30

1/30/14: Post-bath jammies jam-out to Gnarls Barkley, "Crazy".

365: Day 25

1/25/14: Silas spent most of Saturday afternoon "doing research" at my desk. I think he was inspired by all of the hard-working students he saw in lab on Friday! Zoe spiked a crazy high fever (105+!) after nap. We had a sitter lined up for Saturday night so that we could go out to dinner and see some live music. We went back and forth about whether to cancel, and we ended up deciding to keep our plans after we got the fever down with a bath and some ibuprofen. She had no other signs of illness and was perfectly happy to have Sarah babysit - and we were so happy to be able to go out! After dinner we saw a cover band show - I danced and danced, even logging almost 1000 steps between midnight (when the Fitbit step counter resets) and 12:15 when we headed home.

365: Day 288

10/16/13: It was school picture day on Wednesday. I really wanted to get a picture of them in their outfits, but this was the only one I could get of Silas being uncooperative. Instead, they decided to take their shirts off and have a dance party in the kitchen.

365: Day 240

8/29/13: 1, 2, cha-cha-cha!

365: Day 162

6/12/13: 6pm dance party, courtesy of Madonna.

Fly Me to the Moon

Dancing to one of my favorite songs. It's funny the way Zoe watches Silas and does whatever he does. She copies him ALL THE TIME and has been forever now!

366: Day 242

You're Invited! Daft Punk Dance Party,  6:05pm Nightly Hosted by DJ A-Dub (aka, Momma) Pants are (apparently) optional

366: Day 161

6/9/12: Zoe dancing to the music while sipping on some milk.

Blue's Clues Dance

S&Z typically watch between 20 and 45 minutes of television per day. After basically never having the TV on between 3 and 18 months, we now use it strategically (i.e., while we make meals, clean up, or as a special treat before bed) and in moderation. The American Academy of Pediatrics suggests that kids over 2 years don't watch more than 1 hour per day, so that is the max limit we try to stick with. During the week they tend to watch PBS with Derek, including shows like "Super Why", "Cat in the Hat", and of course "Sesame Street". We have NetFlix streaming, so we also have a few favorite shows that they tend to watch with me on the weekends. The typical weekend playlist includes "Curious George", "Blue's Clues", and "Yo Gabba Gabba". They have recently started dancing and singing the Blue's Clues song. It is so darn cute that I needed to get it on video!

366: Day 128

5/7/12: They got the moves like Jagger

Dance Party

The kids felt like dancing when I got home from work last night. Julia was very happy to oblige! But Zoe wasn't done yet even after Silas lost interest...

366: Day 100

4/9/12: I've made it 100 days into the photo a day project!  Woo-hoo, let's dance!

All Dressed Up

One of Derek's best friends, Brad, got married on Saturday night. Derek was a groomsman along with Ricky and Keith. We figure this was our last big "event" (i.e., get dressed up) before the babies arrive. Our one year wedding anniversary is coming up on 10/11 but I'm not sure how much celebrating I'll be up for! So, figured I should post some pics of us in our fancy pants. A fun night was had by all, and Derek and I even managed to get a slow dance in before this Cinderella turned into a pumpkin (oh wait, I already AM a pumpkin as Derek would joke). I left around 10pm and the dance party was just getting started...
