365: Day 214

8/2/14: S&Z were good little travelers on Saturday! We were soooooooooooo happy to see Daddy!!!!!

365: Day 206-Traveling to Minnesota

7/25/14: On Friday the kids and I flew to Minnesota- My aunt Sue picked us up at the airport and we headed out to her and Bob's house on Lake Minnetonka. We were lucky enough to go on a boat ride before dinner. It was a first for S&Z! What a beautiful evening on the lake, we were all so happy! What a great first night of vacation!!

365: Day 151

5/31/14: We are getting ready for a long road trip to Maryland to visit friends in a few weeks. We bought a dual-screen DVD player to help keep S&Z occupied; we will also try to time the drive so that the kids will sleep for part of it. We have already let S&Z know there will be a "2-hour rule" (we only use the DVD players for trips > 2 hours), but we gave the system a test drive when we drove to Jeff & Megan's house for dinner last night. They were in heaven :)

365: Day 49- Portland!

2/18/14: After a good night's sleep everyone was ready for a hotel breakfast. S&Z insisted on heading down to breakfast in their footed pajamas. After breakfast we got in one last swim. We had a little extra time before checkout, so we played a game of Uno before getting some lunch. Two friends had recommended a restaurant called Duckfat , so we knew we couldn't go wrong. Milkshakes for the kids, And poutine and local cider for the adults! AMAZING. Unfortunately we drove home in a snowstorm, and the 2-hour drive to Portland turned into a 4-hour drive back to Boston. Thanks to 4-wheel drive and Derek at the wheel we made it home safely around 5:00. A weary traveler, I happily finished this bottle of wine left from the hotel after Derek went to the space and the kids went to bed :) Such a fun time, I think we'll go for 2 nights next year!

MN Family Fun

This week we are staying with my Aunt Sue and Uncle Bob, who live on an island on Lake Minnetonka. One of the first things we did when we arrived at their house was check out the lake! Uncle Bob was all too happy to show S&Z where we were on the map. S&Z made themselves right at home with their toys too! Bob is the chef in the family so the kids have been glued to him while he cooks dinner. Grandma and Grandpa arrived on Thursday afternoon so there have been lots of people around to play with and spoil the kids. We had fun with sidewalk chalk after lunch on Friday. A big storm came through on Friday night and we lost power for a few hours. No power led to lots of snuggles for S&Z. It is so good to be home!

365: Day 169- Traveling to MN

6/19/13: On Wednesday morning we loaded our suitcases and backpacks to head to the airport for our flight to Minneapolis. None of us have flown in 3 years and S&Z were so excited for their first "remember able" flight! We were able to park at the East Boston ambulance satellite for the week. We loaded everyone onto an airport shuttle bus to get to the terminal. S&Z were good helpers while checking in and were very curious about where the luggage was going. There was a lot of traffic on our way to the airport so we didn't have more than 5 or so minutes at the gate before it was time to board. Silas and I sat together and Zoe and Derek sat in the row in front of us. We had Sesame Street videos downloaded and ready and we found cool headphones at Five Below that we surprised them with. The 2-1/2 hour long flight to Minneapolis was uneventful, and Uncle Bob met us at the baggage claim. The travelers were weary and fell asleep on our way out to Sue and Bob's house...
