365: Day 169- Traveling to MN

6/19/13: On Wednesday morning we loaded our suitcases and backpacks to head to the airport for our flight to Minneapolis. None of us have flown in 3 years and S&Z were so excited for their first "remember able" flight!

We were able to park at the East Boston ambulance satellite for the week. We loaded everyone onto an airport shuttle bus to get to the terminal.

S&Z were good helpers while checking in and were very curious about where the luggage was going.

There was a lot of traffic on our way to the airport so we didn't have more than 5 or so minutes at the gate before it was time to board.

Silas and I sat together and Zoe and Derek sat in the row in front of us.

We had Sesame Street videos downloaded and ready and we found cool headphones at Five Below that we surprised them with.

The 2-1/2 hour long flight to Minneapolis was uneventful, and Uncle Bob met us at the baggage claim.

The travelers were weary and fell asleep on our way out to Sue and Bob's house. Let the vacation fun begin!

Silas' Blog

Well it's been a busy 3 years since I last posted! Stay tuned as we may have more posts coming now that it looks like I have a new contributor... Silas recently read a book called "Starting Your Own Blog", and now he is bound and determined for us to let him start his own blog! We convinced him that he should start out by drafting content and a posting calendar. We made templates this morning and he wrote his first "post" today!

Today

Today I went to a yoga class for the first time in far too many years. It felt wonderful and pushed me out of my comfort zone. I can't wait to go back! Today Derek gave Silas his traditional mid-summer haircut. Today the weather was perfect and we enjoyed bike rides (them) / a walk (me) in the park after lunch. Today Zoe chased the cats until they succumbed to her love and adoration. Today I put the garbage on the curb for weekly pickup and realized that we didn't have any! We recycle and compost far more than we throw away. I am grateful to be able to teach Zoe & Silas these habits. Empty trash barrel Countertop compost bin  Backyard compost bin that we bought at Town Hall Food compost, including the hair from Silas' haircut today! Today I checked on the rooftop vegetable patio garden - it's doing great! Today we went school supply shopping so that I can enjoy the last month of summer without worrying abou...

Summer Nights

As we hit the end of July we are relishing the relaxed summer nights around here. Walks to the corner store after work- Kitten snoozes in the window- Playing outside after dinner- And after dinner bike rides in the park aplenty. The best part is when they ride down the "big hill" out of the woods and we make the loop home. These are the days.
