365: Day 205

7/24/14: Testing out his new headphones for the airplane ride to Minnesota. Zoe had to check it out too... ONE MORE SLEEP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

365: Day 114

4/24/14:  Silas continues to be obsessed with my iPod. He looked at me last night and said "this is my FAVORITE song!". I checked to see what he was listening to and it was Alanis Morrisette, "All I Really Want". Sometimes I have glimpses of what they will be like as adolescents. This picture captured one of them (funny though, he was listening to " The Moth " podcast).

365: Day 92

4/2/14: We have 3 opera singers that live upstairs.

365: Day 82

3/23/14: On Sunday we took it easy. In the morning Stephanie and I went to the gym and then did a little shopping before Derek went to work. Before dinner Silas' favorite electronica radio show, Jet Set Radio , came on. Of course we had to have a little dance party! S&Z enjoyed a final storytime with Auntie and Uncle on their last night in Boston.

365: Day 78

3/19/14: The iPod obsession continues, even at 7am.

365: Day 75

3/16/14: The iPod/music obsession continues. Today Silas discovered Billie Holiday, which provided the perfect Sunday morning soundtrack.

365: Day 65

3/6/14: Zoe is a little fish at swimming lessons these days so we got her a new swimsuit. Prior to this suit she wore board shirts and an SPF shirt that is more geared towards hanging out on the beach. This "traditional" suit will make it easier for her in the pool at their  weekly swim lessons ! Silas continues to be obsessed with music and electronics. Here he is before bed (wearing Zoe's cupcake pajamas - whatevs, cupcakes are cool!) with my iPod and a portable speaker that Derek got from my Dad & Mary for Christmas. I am using the speaker and music as enticement this week to motivate them to get dressed/wash up/put on pj's/insert transition here. So far, so good!

365: Day 38

2/7/14: On the way to school yesterday Zoe wrote both her and Silas' names on the magna doodle. It's amazing how much they are learning this year! Mr. No Napper helped me make Crockpot Refried Beans and Chicken Tacos for dinner. Silas has been obsessed with our old iPod's recently. He pulled out his headphones that we bought for the trip to Minnesota  last summer, and he plugs in to jam out. I can see our younger selves in him...

365: Day 20

1/20/14: S&Z are very interested in music these days. I caught them contemplating some song lyrics on Monday.

365: Day 363

12/29/13: Zoe & Silas have recently discovered my old iPod. With over 3500 songs to choose from, they somehow have discovered Barbara Streisand's Christmas Album. And request it over and over and over...

365: Day 353- Preschool Holiday Concert

12/20/13: Friday morning was S&Z's holiday concert at preschool. I got a few pictures of them in front of the tree before we left. We were curious to see if either of them would sing this year, as  last year they did not. Zoe was totally into it, and Silas just covered his ears and turned away from everyone. I took a couple of videos so the grandparents can see how they did. As much as I love having them in school, I'm looking forward to a 2 week break from the Getting-Ready-For-School Morning Olympics!

365: Day 317

11/14/13: I got home on Thursday after work and dumped my stuff in the living room as usual. Next thing I knew Silas had put my earbuds in and was asking to listen to some music. I had just shut off iTunes where Morphine was playing, so I started it back up for him. Of course Zoe came right over and grabbed a bud to listen for herself. Shortly thereafter one of them informed me that they like Daddy's music better :)

365: Day 221- Kaylan's Birthday Party

8/10/13: Zoe & Silas were SO excited to go to Kaylan's 6th birthday party at Chuck E Cheese on Saturday! They have never played video games before so they were innundated with lots of new stuff to figure out. Each kid got a bowl full of tokens when they arrived and everyone played in the arcade for an hour before pizza and cake. While they ate pizza, Chuck E Cheese and friends put on a show. Everyone had a blast!!! Derek had to work the dayshift and then he needed to collect rent money at his practice space in Brockton, so we decided to stop by on our way home so the kids could make some noise. They took turns between singing in the microphone and playing Derek's drums. And then they both wanted to play the drums :) Derek taught them how to use the foot cymbals and bass drum this time, so it was extra noisy in there! I'll spare you and not post the videos this time... They were beyond exhausted and we ended up ...

365: Day 162

6/12/13: 6pm dance party, courtesy of Madonna.

365: Day 38

2/7/13: Derek has to work through the storm but I'll be hunkered down with S&Z for a couple of days. Hopefully our little Schroeder will serenade us through the blizzard.

Fly Me to the Moon

Dancing to one of my favorite songs. It's funny the way Zoe watches Silas and does whatever he does. She copies him ALL THE TIME and has been forever now!

365: Day 17

1/17/13: Music time!

366: Day 366a

I should have waited until after our New Year's Eve dinner with friends to post today's picture. This would've been my choice for today :)

Holiday Concert

S&Z's preschool held a combined holiday concert for the 3-year-old morning and afternoon classes. I have been so excited about the concert, and was very thankful when both kids proved to be healthy enough to be able to attend. We invited Derek's parents to come up to Boston for the concert on Thursday morning. In total there were about 40 3-year-olds performing! I think it took longer to line them up than it did to perform the six song program :) S&Z were positioned in the middle of all the kids, and they looked like deer in headlights for most of the songs. The head preschool teacher isn't particularly musically inclined, so the background music came from an iPod which was positioned at the opposite end of the room from where S&Z stood. Some kids sang along and some kids cried. S&Z didn't sing any of the songs, but they looked around curiously throughout the program. The kids were given LED votive candles for "This ...
