There are many things I love about living in Roslindale, but one of the highlights this time of year are the events going on in the Square. The Roslindale Village Main Street program is a strong local group that organizes and promotes the weekly Farmer's Market and puts together events like music and movies in the square that happen throughout the summer. They are currently in the feasibility stage of discussions about starting a Winter Farmer's Market as well.
As a part of the Saturday Farmer's Market there is usually live music around 11am. We decided to pack a picnic this week and head down with the kids. It was a hot and humid day, and the band this week was appropriately called "The Beachcombers". They played Dick Dale-style music and they had the square hoppin'!

Today Derek gave Silas his traditional mid-summer haircut. Today the weather was perfect and we enjoyed bike rides (them) / a walk (me) in the park after lunch. Empty trash barrel Countertop compost bin Backyard compost bin that we bought at Town Hall Food compost, including the hair from Silas' haircut today! Today I checked on the rooftop vegetable patio garden - it's doing great! Today we went school supply shopping so that I can enjoy the last month of summer without worrying abou...
As we hit the end of July we are relishing the relaxed summer nights around here. Walks to the corner store after work- Kitten snoozes in the window- Playing outside after dinner- And after dinner bike rides in the park aplenty. The best part is when they ride down the "big hill" out of the woods and we make the loop home. These are the days.
