Mother's Day

It's amazing how much more manageable our lives feel this year compared to last year around this time. We decided to spend Mother's Day morning at a nearby playground. The trees are flowering in our neighborhood so we enjoyed a gorgeous walk to the park.

I have only been to this playground one other time and didn't get any pictures, so I snapped a bunch today because it's a very beautiful space. We were the only people there and it was awesome!

The kids discovered a very small puddle,

And of course they kept gravitating back to it!

Derek got me a a card that made me cry and a bouquet of beautiful tulips,

You can see all of the pictures from the park in our Picasa album by clicking the link below.

After S&Z took a nap and Derek went to bed for the day, Cecilia & I went to Castle Island. Ceci is a long-time collaborator and friend who is visiting us this week from Chile. It was a wonderful afternoon complete with more puppies and a picnic; you can also see the pictures on Picasa.

  1. The puddle video is hilarious. I am glad to see them getting over the bugs they had and actively looking for more germs... Go Silas!! Work on that immune system.

Silas' Blog

Well it's been a busy 3 years since I last posted! Stay tuned as we may have more posts coming now that it looks like I have a new contributor... Silas recently read a book called "Starting Your Own Blog", and now he is bound and determined for us to let him start his own blog! We convinced him that he should start out by drafting content and a posting calendar. We made templates this morning and he wrote his first "post" today!

Food Prep

We recently bought a house and moved about 20 miles outside of Boston. One of the changes that came along with a new commute and work schedule is that I have started making dinner for the kids every night, instead of just Friday-Sunday (Julia, our wonderful long-time nanny, historically fed them dinner Monday-Thursday). Derek and I still have opposite work schedules, which means that I have the kids without him 5-6 nights/week. In order to make healthy meals AND pack lunches while flying solo, at a minimum I need to have a well-stocked fridge and basic menu plan for the week. Even better is when I can get some cooking and/or food prep done on Sunday. Before I go to the gym on Sunday mornings I usually peruse some recipes in search of culinary inspiration. Today I came across a recipe that caught my eye on Budget Bytes . I was planning on hitting Trader Joe's after the gym, so I picked up the frozen roasted corn that is the cornerstone of this recipe. The first part of my foo...

Auntie Tracy's Visit

Tracy is one of my best friends, but I haven't seen her in person in two years ! This means that I hadn't met her daughter, Brynn, who turns 2 in June. I was sooooooooo excited when I found out that Tracy and Brynn would be visiting Tracy's sister, Timery this weekend. We decided to meet at Mall Tots  again so that the kids could run around and we could catch up. It's a 45 minute drive and it was a beautiful day, so the kids were hunkered down with sunglasses, snack and stuffed animals on the ride up. Zoe and Brynn initially got acquainted in the bouncy house, And then Zoe pushed her around in a car.   Of course my kids (and husband!) had plenty of distraction with the video games too. We packed up the kids and then had lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings before heading back home. Timery and Tracy are like sisters to me. What a fantastic day!!!
