Bog Hollow Farm

We went back to Bog Hollow Farm in Kingston today for the Annual Pumpkin Patch Weekend. The weather was cooler this year but it didn't rain so we were all happy. My mom arrived in Boston last night so it was a fun outing for her first day here.


First we had to check out the tractors,


And then we were ready to take a hay ride out to the "pumpkin patch".


There was so much to do in the pumpkin patch! There were tunnels through hay,


A train to ride,


Heights to be measured,


Animals to see,


A mattress slide to jump down,


And of course, pumpkins to pick!


It was getting to be time for lunch so we paid for our pumpkins and headed back for hot dogs.


What a fun, fall day!!

Summer Nights

As we hit the end of July we are relishing the relaxed summer nights around here. Walks to the corner store after work- Kitten snoozes in the window- Playing outside after dinner- And after dinner bike rides in the park aplenty. The best part is when they ride down the "big hill" out of the woods and we make the loop home. These are the days.

Today

Today I went to a yoga class for the first time in far too many years. It felt wonderful and pushed me out of my comfort zone. I can't wait to go back! Today Derek gave Silas his traditional mid-summer haircut. Today the weather was perfect and we enjoyed bike rides (them) / a walk (me) in the park after lunch. Today Zoe chased the cats until they succumbed to her love and adoration. Today I put the garbage on the curb for weekly pickup and realized that we didn't have any! We recycle and compost far more than we throw away. I am grateful to be able to teach Zoe & Silas these habits. Empty trash barrel Countertop compost bin  Backyard compost bin that we bought at Town Hall Food compost, including the hair from Silas' haircut today! Today I checked on the rooftop vegetable patio garden - it's doing great! Today we went school supply shopping so that I can enjoy the last month of summer without worrying abou...
