Birthday Birthday!

We had a fun-filled day celebrating S&Z's 3rd birthday today! They were SO excited to find party hats and birthday decorations when they woke up this morning.


We had our last EI playgroup this morning (separate post), and then we had mexican for lunch.

Birthday toast!


We opened presents when we got home.


Derek and I got them Melissa & Doug tool kits and a marble racer; Ta-ta got them new markers and some toy brooms. We had some time to play with everything before Derek had to leave for work. Apparently he had a marble racer when he was a kid (although he said this one is ten times better than his was!), so he had a lot of fun showing the kids how it worked!


We went out for pizza with some friends for dinner.

Summer Nights

As we hit the end of July we are relishing the relaxed summer nights around here. Walks to the corner store after work- Kitten snoozes in the window- Playing outside after dinner- And after dinner bike rides in the park aplenty. The best part is when they ride down the "big hill" out of the woods and we make the loop home. These are the days.

Today

Today I went to a yoga class for the first time in far too many years. It felt wonderful and pushed me out of my comfort zone. I can't wait to go back! Today Derek gave Silas his traditional mid-summer haircut. Today the weather was perfect and we enjoyed bike rides (them) / a walk (me) in the park after lunch. Today Zoe chased the cats until they succumbed to her love and adoration. Today I put the garbage on the curb for weekly pickup and realized that we didn't have any! We recycle and compost far more than we throw away. I am grateful to be able to teach Zoe & Silas these habits. Empty trash barrel Countertop compost bin  Backyard compost bin that we bought at Town Hall Food compost, including the hair from Silas' haircut today! Today I checked on the rooftop vegetable patio garden - it's doing great! Today we went school supply shopping so that I can enjoy the last month of summer without worrying abou...
