Runners-Up

Our lives resumed some normalcy this weekend now that Joanne is out of the hospital; Derek is also working on getting on a normal sleep schedule. We went to the zoo on Friday, the Farmer's Market on Saturday, and the Children's Museum on Sunday. Here are a few photos that didn't make it as photos of the day, but are definitely runners-up.

8/10/12: In the Butterfly Landing at Franklin Park Zoo
8/10/12: Momma's and their babies
8/11/12: Eating strawberries with their puppy following
a 3.5 mile morning power walk/jog with Mommy

8/11/12: Ring around the rosie. This went on for another 5 minutes after I stopped the video :)

8/12/12: Cribs empty and clothes removed at 7am
8/12/12: On our way to the Children's Museum
8/12/12: Checking out the chairs in the Big & Little
exhibit at the Children's Museum
Back to work for both of us tomorrow. Hopefully no more visits to the hospital for awhile. Next round of chemo is on 8/24...

Silas' Blog

Well it's been a busy 3 years since I last posted! Stay tuned as we may have more posts coming now that it looks like I have a new contributor... Silas recently read a book called "Starting Your Own Blog", and now he is bound and determined for us to let him start his own blog! We convinced him that he should start out by drafting content and a posting calendar. We made templates this morning and he wrote his first "post" today!

Today

Today Derek gave Silas his traditional mid-summer haircut. Today the weather was perfect and we enjoyed bike rides (them) / a walk (me) in the park after lunch. Today Zoe chased the cats until they succumbed to her love and adoration. Today I put the garbage on the curb for weekly pickup and realized that we didn't have any! We recycle and compost far more than we throw away. I am grateful to be able to teach Zoe & Silas these habits. Empty trash barrel Countertop compost bin  Backyard compost bin that we bought at Town Hall Food compost, including the hair from Silas' haircut today! Today I checked on the rooftop vegetable patio garden - it's doing great! Today we went school supply shopping so that I can enjoy the last month of summer without worrying abou...

Summer Nights

As we hit the end of July we are relishing the relaxed summer nights around here. Walks to the corner store after work- Kitten snoozes in the window- Playing outside after dinner- And after dinner bike rides in the park aplenty. The best part is when they ride down the "big hill" out of the woods and we make the loop home. These are the days.
