The Wonder of Christmas, 2nd Ed.

Even though we are a little behind on Christmas decorating this year, we are definitely in the Christmas spirit around here! The kids love all kinds of Christmas music and now specifically ask for it if I'm not playing it already. The tree isn't decorated yet, but we've got the stockings and Christmas cards hung, along with a few other decorations here and there. We have been talking a lot about Santa and all things Christmas, and they are really curious about everything. They love seeing the lights on the houses in the neighborhood, and say "more lights houses" as we're walking around at dusk.

We were finally able to put the guest room back together last weekend once the painting was done. On one of Derek's nights off this week he put up the tree without the distraction of our two little helpers. Since they didn't see the tree go up, we were excited to see their reaction to it when they got up in the morning

Hey brother, come on!

The view is better from down here!

Their faces say it all.

Silas' Blog

Well it's been a busy 3 years since I last posted! Stay tuned as we may have more posts coming now that it looks like I have a new contributor... Silas recently read a book called "Starting Your Own Blog", and now he is bound and determined for us to let him start his own blog! We convinced him that he should start out by drafting content and a posting calendar. We made templates this morning and he wrote his first "post" today!

Today

Today I went to a yoga class for the first time in far too many years. It felt wonderful and pushed me out of my comfort zone. I can't wait to go back! Today Derek gave Silas his traditional mid-summer haircut. Today the weather was perfect and we enjoyed bike rides (them) / a walk (me) in the park after lunch. Today Zoe chased the cats until they succumbed to her love and adoration. Today I put the garbage on the curb for weekly pickup and realized that we didn't have any! We recycle and compost far more than we throw away. I am grateful to be able to teach Zoe & Silas these habits. Empty trash barrel Countertop compost bin  Backyard compost bin that we bought at Town Hall Food compost, including the hair from Silas' haircut today! Today I checked on the rooftop vegetable patio garden - it's doing great! Today we went school supply shopping so that I can enjoy the last month of summer without worrying abou...

Summer Nights

As we hit the end of July we are relishing the relaxed summer nights around here. Walks to the corner store after work- Kitten snoozes in the window- Playing outside after dinner- And after dinner bike rides in the park aplenty. The best part is when they ride down the "big hill" out of the woods and we make the loop home. These are the days.
