I grabbed the camera to shoot this video tonight because Silas has shown new interest in this pull toy. The toy in its entirety is a wooden giraffe, zebra, and an elephant and they all hook together. Silas, however, just wants to pull the base of the giraffe around the house. I tried to put the other pieces on and he would just pick it up, take them off, set the base piece back down and toodle on his merry way. He walks back and forth between the kitchen and living room, pulling it behind him.
What the video ended up capturing, however, at the end of a long and trying day in toddlerville, is toy stealing. Fighting over toys started around 8 months and is something we deal with every day. We have playdates with our singleton friends and the parents are appalled when their kid (or one of my kids) steals a toy. I am completely unphased, because in the world of twindom this is the way it goes. Every. Day. "Work it out" is the mantra of the house.
The video captures the essence of the current dynamic between them. Zoe figures out how to get whatever the hell she wants, and Silas bursts into tears. Just wait, Zoe - the day will come when Silas figures out that he is bigger than you and he will squash you like a bug.
