365: Day 74

3/15/14: Saturday is the new Sunday at our house. Food shopping is typically done on Friday, and the gym is packed so we wait to go until Sunday. The kids get up between 7 and 7:30, but they play quietly and often let us stay in bed until as late as 8:30! Today Derek and the kids made pancakes for breakfast after we got up.


While Silas waited for breakfast to be ready he "prepped" all of the vegetables for his pizza. All of the small toppings went in a snack size bag, the medium toppings went in a regular sandwich bag, and the crusts went in a gallon size bag.


He is definitely taking after me with this type of organization!

Today

Today I went to a yoga class for the first time in far too many years. It felt wonderful and pushed me out of my comfort zone. I can't wait to go back! Today Derek gave Silas his traditional mid-summer haircut. Today the weather was perfect and we enjoyed bike rides (them) / a walk (me) in the park after lunch. Today Zoe chased the cats until they succumbed to her love and adoration. Today I put the garbage on the curb for weekly pickup and realized that we didn't have any! We recycle and compost far more than we throw away. I am grateful to be able to teach Zoe & Silas these habits. Empty trash barrel Countertop compost bin  Backyard compost bin that we bought at Town Hall Food compost, including the hair from Silas' haircut today! Today I checked on the rooftop vegetable patio garden - it's doing great! Today we went school supply shopping so that I can enjoy the last month of summer without worrying abou...

Summer Nights

As we hit the end of July we are relishing the relaxed summer nights around here. Walks to the corner store after work- Kitten snoozes in the window- Playing outside after dinner- And after dinner bike rides in the park aplenty. The best part is when they ride down the "big hill" out of the woods and we make the loop home. These are the days.
