365: Day 298- 4th Birthday Party

We got home from Newburyport at 2:00 on Saturday afternoon, just in time to get ready for S&Z's birthday celebration with Derek's family. They were soooooo excited to celebrate with their cousin Kaylan!


All 3 kids had so much fun playing with S&Z's birthday presents! The campfire set from Grandma and Grandpa D. was a big hit, especially since we have had a tent set up in their bedroom for the last few weeks.


When planning the party S&Z decided that they wanted flatbread pizzas and a chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. 


Everyone was exhausted by the end of the party...


Happy birthday, guys! It's been an awesome birthday month!!

Today

Today I went to a yoga class for the first time in far too many years. It felt wonderful and pushed me out of my comfort zone. I can't wait to go back! Today Derek gave Silas his traditional mid-summer haircut. Today the weather was perfect and we enjoyed bike rides (them) / a walk (me) in the park after lunch. Today Zoe chased the cats until they succumbed to her love and adoration. Today I put the garbage on the curb for weekly pickup and realized that we didn't have any! We recycle and compost far more than we throw away. I am grateful to be able to teach Zoe & Silas these habits. Empty trash barrel Countertop compost bin  Backyard compost bin that we bought at Town Hall Food compost, including the hair from Silas' haircut today! Today I checked on the rooftop vegetable patio garden - it's doing great! Today we went school supply shopping so that I can enjoy the last month of summer without worrying abou...

Summer Nights

As we hit the end of July we are relishing the relaxed summer nights around here. Walks to the corner store after work- Kitten snoozes in the window- Playing outside after dinner- And after dinner bike rides in the park aplenty. The best part is when they ride down the "big hill" out of the woods and we make the loop home. These are the days.
