365: Day 15


1/15/13: I was very thankful to have Julia take over as nursemaid for a couple of hours this afternoon. Silas wanted in on the Ta-ta snuggles too! 

Zoe is still pushing a fever of 104. This is the worst sickness I can remember either of them ever having. I called the pediatrician on-call last night who said there's really nothing that can be done. She told me signs to watch for of dehydration or pneumonia. She is drinking and eating okay. She perks up when the ibuprofen kicks in, and then crashes again when it wears off. Silas woke up around 7:00 and tried to rouse Zoe. She must have been pretty listless because he started calling "ZOE NEEDS MEDICINE! ZOE NEEDS MEDICINE!". So sweet. This afternoon was day 4 of a high fever for Zoe so I'm really hoping we're nearing the end. I still have a head cold and am exhausted, but I need to go back to work tomorrow.

Today

Today I went to a yoga class for the first time in far too many years. It felt wonderful and pushed me out of my comfort zone. I can't wait to go back! Today Derek gave Silas his traditional mid-summer haircut. Today the weather was perfect and we enjoyed bike rides (them) / a walk (me) in the park after lunch. Today Zoe chased the cats until they succumbed to her love and adoration. Today I put the garbage on the curb for weekly pickup and realized that we didn't have any! We recycle and compost far more than we throw away. I am grateful to be able to teach Zoe & Silas these habits. Empty trash barrel Countertop compost bin  Backyard compost bin that we bought at Town Hall Food compost, including the hair from Silas' haircut today! Today I checked on the rooftop vegetable patio garden - it's doing great! Today we went school supply shopping so that I can enjoy the last month of summer without worrying abou...

Summer Nights

As we hit the end of July we are relishing the relaxed summer nights around here. Walks to the corner store after work- Kitten snoozes in the window- Playing outside after dinner- And after dinner bike rides in the park aplenty. The best part is when they ride down the "big hill" out of the woods and we make the loop home. These are the days.
