Season Opener

My sister used the phrase "season opener" on FB today to refer to her first pedicure of the season. This is also a great phrase for our first outing to the playground! S&Z started walking in the middle of the winter, so this is our first season of running, climbing and exploring outside. There is a great tot lot (n. 'a playground for very young children') in our neighborhood that had been recommended to me by another mom. It was a chilly morning (< 40 degrees F), but we needed to get out of the house, so me, Grandma, Silas & Zoe headed out while Derek dealt with having new brakes installed in the M.V.

At first they just wanted to walk around and explore the space. It's all fenced in and we had the entire playground to ourselves! I guess it pays to brave the cold weather :)

My little people look even littler on this scale!

Grandma got her exercise today!

What? We needed to take a load off for a sec...

Back exploring, hat askew

There were a lot of slides and stair climbing involved in the morning's activities!

And a few breaks taken for snacks on the park bench,

I'm very excited for many more fun trips to the park in the warmer months to come!

Silas' Blog

Well it's been a busy 3 years since I last posted! Stay tuned as we may have more posts coming now that it looks like I have a new contributor... Silas recently read a book called "Starting Your Own Blog", and now he is bound and determined for us to let him start his own blog! We convinced him that he should start out by drafting content and a posting calendar. We made templates this morning and he wrote his first "post" today!

The Best of Project 366

2012 is coming to a close and I have officially completed Project 366 ! I managed to take and post and keep track of 365 photos out of 366 total days this year. I only missed one day and it was for a pretty good cause . Believe me, these pictures don't take themselves. I shot just under 7000 pictures this year. Once I got an iPhone in March all of the pictures were taken with my phone (~ 5500 pictures!). The camera on the iPhone is really good, I always have it with me, and I like playing around with the filters and other editing tools available in photography apps like Instagram, Camera+, Diptic, and Gridditor. Since I have put so much time, love and energy into Project 366 I thought I should select a few "Best Of's". I had a great time putting this together, and I hope you enjoy these highlights as well! The Blog Book is Here!!!

My friend, Tom, told me about a website where you can order a bound copy of your blog. I've had it on my radar for awhile, but I finally just got around to making a book of the first year of entries. It starts with 'Icing on the Cake' , the last entry before they were born, and it ends with Halloween . It turned out better than I could have imagined! I cried when I opened it... One hundred ninety-four pages of love, photos, stories, and milestones!
