Miserable

As I mentioned on Friday, Zoe is sick again. She seems much worse off than Silas was when we brought him back to the doc last Monday. At a minimum, she's definitely more vocal about it. We had another call-the-pediatrician-first-thing-Monday-for-a-same-day-appt/mommy-cancel-rearrange-all-meetings kind of start to the week. We were at the clinic by 8:30 and out of there 45 minutes later with another prescription for antibiotics. She has a horrible cough that's keeping anyone from sleeping very well. She cried inconsolably for 1+ hour when I got home from work tonight. She definitely seemed worse than yesterday, but this could also be due to end of the day exhaustion. Dr. Rundquist said that if she is not showing signs of improvement in 3 days we need to call her back in order to up the dose of amoxicillin.

Silas seemed to be getting better with meds, but now his cough has re-surfaced along with quite a runny nose. I'm afraid the 10-day antibiotic treatment didn't cut it.

Everyone is miserable.

So, how are you?

Silas' Blog

Well it's been a busy 3 years since I last posted! Stay tuned as we may have more posts coming now that it looks like I have a new contributor... Silas recently read a book called "Starting Your Own Blog", and now he is bound and determined for us to let him start his own blog! We convinced him that he should start out by drafting content and a posting calendar. We made templates this morning and he wrote his first "post" today!

Today

Today I went to a yoga class for the first time in far too many years. It felt wonderful and pushed me out of my comfort zone. I can't wait to go back! Today Derek gave Silas his traditional mid-summer haircut. Today the weather was perfect and we enjoyed bike rides (them) / a walk (me) in the park after lunch. Today Zoe chased the cats until they succumbed to her love and adoration. Today I put the garbage on the curb for weekly pickup and realized that we didn't have any! We recycle and compost far more than we throw away. I am grateful to be able to teach Zoe & Silas these habits. Empty trash barrel Countertop compost bin  Backyard compost bin that we bought at Town Hall Food compost, including the hair from Silas' haircut today! Today I checked on the rooftop vegetable patio garden - it's doing great! Today we went school supply shopping so that I can enjoy the last month of summer without worrying abou...

Summer Nights

As we hit the end of July we are relishing the relaxed summer nights around here. Walks to the corner store after work- Kitten snoozes in the window- Playing outside after dinner- And after dinner bike rides in the park aplenty. The best part is when they ride down the "big hill" out of the woods and we make the loop home. These are the days.
