Manuevers in the Kitchen

We spend a lot of time playing in the kitchen these days...

It's plenty big, and we have it set up so that Silas & Zoe can crawl from the kitchen, down half the hallway and then go directly into the nursery. They play like little monkeys in the kitchen and hallway, and they like to sit and look at books in front of the bookshelf in their room.

Silas & Zoe's two favorite things in the kitchen include the refrigerator and the dishwasher. As soon as they hear either of those two things open, you better watch out! Silas could be playing in the nursery or hallway when the dishwasher is opened, and you will immediately hear the pitter-patter of fast little crawling as he beelines your way!

Zoe was in fine form this morning talking up a storm, so I started off shooting this video to capture her mood. Derek happened to be making bottles, so the video turned into a perfect glimpse into how we manuever the two of them and their favorite kitchen appliances!

Finally, I'm posting this last picture for Auntie Phee-Hee. She loves to see Zoe stand up because she looks so tiny. This picture really shows her size in relation to her favorite playspace!

Silas' Blog

Well it's been a busy 3 years since I last posted! Stay tuned as we may have more posts coming now that it looks like I have a new contributor... Silas recently read a book called "Starting Your Own Blog", and now he is bound and determined for us to let him start his own blog! We convinced him that he should start out by drafting content and a posting calendar. We made templates this morning and he wrote his first "post" today!

Food Prep

We recently bought a house and moved about 20 miles outside of Boston. One of the changes that came along with a new commute and work schedule is that I have started making dinner for the kids every night, instead of just Friday-Sunday (Julia, our wonderful long-time nanny, historically fed them dinner Monday-Thursday). Derek and I still have opposite work schedules, which means that I have the kids without him 5-6 nights/week. In order to make healthy meals AND pack lunches while flying solo, at a minimum I need to have a well-stocked fridge and basic menu plan for the week. Even better is when I can get some cooking and/or food prep done on Sunday. Before I go to the gym on Sunday mornings I usually peruse some recipes in search of culinary inspiration. Today I came across a recipe that caught my eye on Budget Bytes . I was planning on hitting Trader Joe's after the gym, so I picked up the frozen roasted corn that is the cornerstone of this recipe. The first part of my foo...

Auntie Tracy's Visit

Tracy is one of my best friends, but I haven't seen her in person in two years ! This means that I hadn't met her daughter, Brynn, who turns 2 in June. I was sooooooooo excited when I found out that Tracy and Brynn would be visiting Tracy's sister, Timery this weekend. We decided to meet at Mall Tots  again so that the kids could run around and we could catch up. It's a 45 minute drive and it was a beautiful day, so the kids were hunkered down with sunglasses, snack and stuffed animals on the ride up. Zoe and Brynn initially got acquainted in the bouncy house, And then Zoe pushed her around in a car.   Of course my kids (and husband!) had plenty of distraction with the video games too. We packed up the kids and then had lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings before heading back home. Timery and Tracy are like sisters to me. What a fantastic day!!!
