I have been back at work for 5-1/2 weeks now, and the reality of our childcare situation has definitely set in. Derek gets home from work in the morning, usually just in time for me to run out the door to catch the bus. When I get home from work he's asleep and Julia has been here as our "baby stopgap" for 3 hours. When Derek wakes up a little after 9pm to eat and get ready for work, I head into the bedroom to go to bed. I'm off Friday-Sunday, but Derek is so tired by that point that he needs to take advantage of having me around to catch up on some much-needed sleep! Thankfully I have a lot of flexibility at work so we are at least able to chat for 10 minutes here and there to catch up on stuff about S&Z and schedules. But mostly I feel like all we do is pass the baby baton between us.
So you can imagine how tickled I was when I recently undressed Silas to put on his pajamas before bed and found a "love note" that Derek had left me via a onesie.
