Lighthouses: Day 3

In planning out fun things to do on our vacation I came across a National Park Service list of scenic routes and overlooks on the Outer Cape. We knew we wanted to go to Provincetown and one of the National Seashore beaches one day, so I printed out the info about overlooks and we had it in our stack of stuff.

On Wednesday the forecast looked great so we hit the road first thing for our mini road trip and day of exploring. We first stopped at Nauset Light Beach in Eastham because it was listed on the NPS sheet as a scenic route. There just happened to be a lighthouse there as well!

I love lighthouses - they remind me of the North Shore of MN, as well as a trip I took to the Oregon coast over a decade ago. When we saw a sign for the Three Sisters Lighthouses just a mile away, we decided to stop.

The next stop on the scenic tour list was the Highland Lighthouse and Highland House in Truro. This was my favorite of the 3 lighthouses. It is also the oldest Cape Cod lighthouse.

The kids played with rocks while Derek and I looked around,

There was a breathtaking scenic overlook here.

In the gift store I found an autographed copy of a children's book called "Cape Cod Magic". This will be one of ways we relive our awesome vacation all year long...

So happy we made these stops on our way to P-town!

Silas' Blog

Well it's been a busy 3 years since I last posted! Stay tuned as we may have more posts coming now that it looks like I have a new contributor... Silas recently read a book called "Starting Your Own Blog", and now he is bound and determined for us to let him start his own blog! We convinced him that he should start out by drafting content and a posting calendar. We made templates this morning and he wrote his first "post" today!

Auntie Tracy's Visit

Tracy is one of my best friends, but I haven't seen her in person in two years ! This means that I hadn't met her daughter, Brynn, who turns 2 in June. I was sooooooooo excited when I found out that Tracy and Brynn would be visiting Tracy's sister, Timery this weekend. We decided to meet at Mall Tots  again so that the kids could run around and we could catch up. It's a 45 minute drive and it was a beautiful day, so the kids were hunkered down with sunglasses, snack and stuffed animals on the ride up. Zoe and Brynn initially got acquainted in the bouncy house, And then Zoe pushed her around in a car.   Of course my kids (and husband!) had plenty of distraction with the video games too. We packed up the kids and then had lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings before heading back home. Timery and Tracy are like sisters to me. What a fantastic day!!!

The Best of Project 366

2012 is coming to a close and I have officially completed Project 366 ! I managed to take and post and keep track of 365 photos out of 366 total days this year. I only missed one day and it was for a pretty good cause . Believe me, these pictures don't take themselves. I shot just under 7000 pictures this year. Once I got an iPhone in March all of the pictures were taken with my phone (~ 5500 pictures!). The camera on the iPhone is really good, I always have it with me, and I like playing around with the filters and other editing tools available in photography apps like Instagram, Camera+, Diptic, and Gridditor. Since I have put so much time, love and energy into Project 366 I thought I should select a few "Best Of's". I had a great time putting this together, and I hope you enjoy these highlights as well!
