The Zoe and Silas Show

8/28/14: Derek took the kids to the zoo on Thursday morning. They had so much fun feeding the budgies!

8/19/14: When Julia arrived today Zoe was wearing this amazing get-up. It was a gorgeous afternoon so Julia took the kids to the zoo, where they enjoyed a fun afternoon of carousel rides, playing on the playground, eating ice cream, and visiting the animals! Summer rules!!!!!

7/31/14: On Thursday we met up with my Dad & Mary at the Minnesota Zoo. The weather was great and there were so many fun things to see before we even got through the front gate! The penguins were awesome - very social and fun to watch. We also spent some time playing at a dinosaur dig. It was pretty warm out so we took a lunch break in Dad & Mary's minivan. After lunch we spent some time indoors at the marine life touch tanks. For dinner we headed over to Auntie Sally & Uncle John's house. S&Z had fun playing with their cousins Duffy, Wyatt & Lucy before dinner. I didn't get nearly as many pictures as I would have liked, but I did manage to get a picture of me, Stephanie, and our cousin Sukoshi.

On Monday we headed to the Como Park Zoo with Auntie Stephanie and my Dad and Mary. First stop, the Como Town Train! It was another hot and humid day so we stopped by the mister to cool down, And then had some popcorn in the shade.  We saw zebras, bison, gorillas, and polar bears! And then we headed to an indoor cafe for lunch.  It's so fun to watch S&Z share some of the things they love, like animals, with Auntie and G&G!

6/24/13: Checking out the new gorilla exhibit at the Como Park Zoo. 

4/17/13: D took the kids to the zoo alone for the first time. He's far braver than I am. More sun and fresh air therapy is a very good thing this week. They had another picnic and did lots of running around.  It sounded like they had a great time. I'm sure we will get lots of mileage out of our zoo membership again this summer!

3/30/13: Saturday was a gorgeous day to attend a party at the zoo. Our neighbor friend, Josef, is turning 5 this week! It turns out that he and I share the same birthday on April Fool's Day! The kids got to meet a couple of snakes at the party. They could even touch it if they so desired! Zoe went for it, but Silas passed. The kids ran around outside and everyone had a great time! Happy Birthday, Josef!!!

8/10/12: We went on a much-needed family outing this morning to the zoo. The "Zoorassic Park" exhibit is going on this summer, so we decided to walk through and see (and hear!) all the dinosaurs. There were signs posted all over the ticket booth saying "Remember, dinosaurs can be scary! No refunds". I wasn't sure how S&Z would do, but they did great! They were pretty serious throughout and they stayed in the wagon. Zoe didn't like the dinosaur sounds, so she kept her hands over her ears. There were no tears, though!

5/11/12: A motley crew, at the zoo!

4/1/12: At the zoo celebrating Mommy's birthday.

We headed to the zoo to celebrate my birthday today. It was sunny and in the low 50s - a perfect April morning to be outside! It wasn't too busy, so we were able to spend a lot of time with the gorillas. A mommy gorilla sat with her back against the glass right in front of the kids. And the baby ran around. Then she cuddled up in a corner with her blanket and Silas got up close. Everyone was exhausted after a 2-hour long visit. We got home and found the most lovely surprise from Julia. She dropped off a card, a bouquet of flowers and a cake from my favorite local bakery! I put the kids down for a long nap and Derek made us flank steak fajitas. Thirty-seven is starting off pretty darn good.
