365: Day 166- Happy Father's Day!

6/15/14: After a rainy few days in a row it ended up being gorgeous on Father's Day, so we decided to go strawberry picking. We checked out a different farm called C.N.Smith Farm in West Bridgewater. We absolutely loved it, mainly because there were very few people there! We picked 5.5 lbs of strawberries in less than an hour. When we were done picking we took a (FREE!) hayride tour of the farm. We were the only family on the ride! We sat and ate some strawberries before heading to out to meet up with Derek's family for Father's Day dinner. S&Z loved the roosters that were roaming free. Afterwards we headed to Fresh Catch for dinner with Derek's family. In honor of Father's Day I had to get a picture of the three generations of father-son duos (4 generations total!). We are so grateful that Derek's grandfather is still in good health! As usual, the 3 musketeers had a blast! We are so grateful for Derek an...

365: Day 146- Memorial Day 2014

5/26/14: We spent another Memorial Day at Hale Reservation today - it was our 3rd in a row! It was sprinkling when we arrived so we ate our picnic lunch under a shelter. After lunch we hiked to beautiful Storrow Pond, where beavers have made a large dam in the last few weeks. We watched frogs and fish and caterpillars.  Just another great day spent at Hale!

365: Day 138- Belated Mother's Day

5/18/14: Derek was off work today so we celebrated a late Mother's Day. The weather forecast looked good so we headed to World's End in Hingham for a picnic and a hike. It was our first picnic of the year and all of us were soooooooooo happy to be eating outside! Although accessible by car, World's End is technically one of the Boston Harbor Islands . It is a really beautiful place to hike and explore! We took a break at the top of a scenic hill, and Derek and I ended up taking pictures of each other taking pictures! We walked down to an area called the Sand Bar, where we skipped rocks for a long time. After a 2.5 mile long hike everyone was pretty tired walking back to the car. The hungry hikers went out to a new Lebanese restaurant for dinner. We enjoyed the most amazing spread of food! Hummus, fattoush salad, warak enab (stuffed grape leaves), lentil soup, pita bread, sambossik (meat filled dumplings), chicken and lam...

365: Day 131- Happy Mother's Day!

5/11/14: Derek had to work on Mother's Day so we decided to celebrate on his next weekend day off, which is tomorrow. Looking forward to family plans at a later date, we had a pretty regular day. There's always some of this- And usually some of that- I didn't feel like cooking so the kids and I went out for a rare dinner at a nearby restaurant. I feel very lucky to be a MOM to such great kids!! At preschool they completed some questions about me, and both of them just melted my heart! SILAS SAYS- I am 29 years old (why thank you!) My favorite color is purple My favorite food is bananas My favorite song is the ABC song My favorite place to go is the Arboretum My favorite thing to do with him is stickers I am the best ever because I am so nice to them... ZOE SAYS- I am 21 years old (why thank you even more!) My favorite color is red My favorite food is salad My favorite song is spanish My favorite place t...

365: Day 111- Patriot's Day

4/21/14: Today was Patriot's Day, which is a city (state?) holiday that coincides with the Boston Marathon. It is a big anniversary around these parts, the first year after the  marathon horrors of 2013 . The anniversary has been very upsetting for me so I'm not going to write about it today. Instead, I'll post some pictures of what was thankfully a very normal spring day. After spending the morning at the gym we went to Panera for lunch. It was a beautiful sunny day and Derek had to work, so the kids and I headed to Hale for our first hike of the year. This place makes me so happy! Zoe took this picture of us :) I think S&Z are pretty happy here as well... After hiking to Storrow Pond we grabbed our rain boots and played along the fishing beach of Noanet Pond. Ahhhhhh, SPRING IS HERE!!!!!!!!!!
