Since this winter the kids have gradually pushed their bedtime back from 7:30 to 8:00 pm. Due to Derek's sleeping schedule I'm the only person who puts them to bed, so this translates to an additional 3.5 hours I spend with them each week. It's great to have more quantity, however as many parents can relate this time of day can be really hit and miss in terms of quality.
Last night, for example, I had to gave 3 timeouts in the final 15 minutes before heading to the nursery for books and pj's. Tonight, on the other hand, was the exact opposite. They were in great moods (esp considering Zoe pulled a kitchen chair down on top of herself and cut the inside of her lip open) and they played very well together even as we got close to closing up shop for the day. Right before starting the bedtime routine they decided to build towers together.

They were so focused on taking turns and working together - pretty impressive for a rainy week with lots of time spent indoors playing together!
