Reflections

I'm not gonna lie, the last few weeks (months?) have been pretty tough around here. The wear-and-tear of the crappy schedule continues to take its daily toll, combined with the stress and chaos surrounding hosting Thanksgiving, 3/4 of us have suffered through our first cold virus of the season, and 2-year-old molars are coming in. Throw all of this in the blender with the desires and opinions of two [very] strong-willed 26-month-olds, and temper tantrums abound.

As a result, when precious moments come our way I embrace them.

I photograph them,

I document them,

and I promise myself that I will remember them when things get hard again. Like when I feel like I'm constantly being tested. Or when I feel like I'm failing as a parent (or wife or [insert any other role here...]).

I WILL remember these moments.

(especially Phil Collins singing "You'll Be In My Heart" in the background).

As a parent, you have so many concerns. To see this kind of loving and close relationship between same-aged siblings grow, I feel like we must be doing some things right.

 Right?

Right.

Silas' Blog

Well it's been a busy 3 years since I last posted! Stay tuned as we may have more posts coming now that it looks like I have a new contributor... Silas recently read a book called "Starting Your Own Blog", and now he is bound and determined for us to let him start his own blog! We convinced him that he should start out by drafting content and a posting calendar. We made templates this morning and he wrote his first "post" today!

Auntie Tracy's Visit

Tracy is one of my best friends, but I haven't seen her in person in two years ! This means that I hadn't met her daughter, Brynn, who turns 2 in June. I was sooooooooo excited when I found out that Tracy and Brynn would be visiting Tracy's sister, Timery this weekend. We decided to meet at Mall Tots  again so that the kids could run around and we could catch up. It's a 45 minute drive and it was a beautiful day, so the kids were hunkered down with sunglasses, snack and stuffed animals on the ride up. Zoe and Brynn initially got acquainted in the bouncy house, And then Zoe pushed her around in a car.   Of course my kids (and husband!) had plenty of distraction with the video games too. We packed up the kids and then had lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings before heading back home. Timery and Tracy are like sisters to me. What a fantastic day!!!

The Best of Project 366

2012 is coming to a close and I have officially completed Project 366 ! I managed to take and post and keep track of 365 photos out of 366 total days this year. I only missed one day and it was for a pretty good cause . Believe me, these pictures don't take themselves. I shot just under 7000 pictures this year. Once I got an iPhone in March all of the pictures were taken with my phone (~ 5500 pictures!). The camera on the iPhone is really good, I always have it with me, and I like playing around with the filters and other editing tools available in photography apps like Instagram, Camera+, Diptic, and Gridditor. Since I have put so much time, love and energy into Project 366 I thought I should select a few "Best Of's". I had a great time putting this together, and I hope you enjoy these highlights as well!
