365: Day 237- I Take it Back

8/26/13: I'm sorry, did I say that we were back to normal? I take it back, and ask the universe for forgiveness.

Because apparently this is what Erythema Multiforme looks like. 


Yup, Silas is having an allergic reaction to one of the antibiotics he's been on since the beginning of last week. Itchy, red, and spreading. Awesome. 

Needless to say, all meds are all done now. We will need to see an allergist in a few weeks to figure out what in the heck he's allergic to.

The poor kid has been through the ringer for 9 days now, although he still managed to play all day today. He was still riding his bike in loops around the house before shower time tonight (although bedtime was a nightmare). Thankfully, he's sleeping peacefully now after a dose of children's Benadryl...

Today

Today I went to a yoga class for the first time in far too many years. It felt wonderful and pushed me out of my comfort zone. I can't wait to go back! Today Derek gave Silas his traditional mid-summer haircut. Today the weather was perfect and we enjoyed bike rides (them) / a walk (me) in the park after lunch. Today Zoe chased the cats until they succumbed to her love and adoration. Today I put the garbage on the curb for weekly pickup and realized that we didn't have any! We recycle and compost far more than we throw away. I am grateful to be able to teach Zoe & Silas these habits. Empty trash barrel Countertop compost bin  Backyard compost bin that we bought at Town Hall Food compost, including the hair from Silas' haircut today! Today I checked on the rooftop vegetable patio garden - it's doing great! Today we went school supply shopping so that I can enjoy the last month of summer without worrying abou...

Summer Nights

As we hit the end of July we are relishing the relaxed summer nights around here. Walks to the corner store after work- Kitten snoozes in the window- Playing outside after dinner- And after dinner bike rides in the park aplenty. The best part is when they ride down the "big hill" out of the woods and we make the loop home. These are the days.
