365: Day 131- Happy Mother's Day!

This was by far the best Mother's Day yet! Derek let me sleep in - I woke up after 9:00 to the smell of scrambled eggs and hash. The flowers and cards from Derek and the kids were awesome.


Derek was off work and did the heavy lifting with the kids all day, while I enjoyed the most relaxation I can remember since having kids! He made green smoothies for lunch and we hung out in the backyard once the rain stopped,


And Julia stopped by before dinner to drop off a homemade flan. S&Z were so happy to wish her a Happy Mother's Day in person!


For dinner Derek grilled steak, shrimp and zucchini and I made coconut basmati rice.

Summer Nights

As we hit the end of July we are relishing the relaxed summer nights around here. Walks to the corner store after work- Kitten snoozes in the window- Playing outside after dinner- And after dinner bike rides in the park aplenty. The best part is when they ride down the "big hill" out of the woods and we make the loop home. These are the days.

Today

Today I went to a yoga class for the first time in far too many years. It felt wonderful and pushed me out of my comfort zone. I can't wait to go back! Today Derek gave Silas his traditional mid-summer haircut. Today the weather was perfect and we enjoyed bike rides (them) / a walk (me) in the park after lunch. Today Zoe chased the cats until they succumbed to her love and adoration. Today I put the garbage on the curb for weekly pickup and realized that we didn't have any! We recycle and compost far more than we throw away. I am grateful to be able to teach Zoe & Silas these habits. Empty trash barrel Countertop compost bin  Backyard compost bin that we bought at Town Hall Food compost, including the hair from Silas' haircut today! Today I checked on the rooftop vegetable patio garden - it's doing great! Today we went school supply shopping so that I can enjoy the last month of summer without worrying abou...
