5/3/13: With October birthdays we decided to wait until the spring to get the kids a nice riding toy. A few of my friends' kids have balance bikes and the mom's all rave about them. We went to a bike shop near our house to check out the various options today.
Considering Silas has grown 2 more inches since January and is now 43" tall, we wanted to test drive a bigger-size bike. At first this one seemed okay, but it was quite a bit heavier and the handle bars were pretty high.
Both kids felt really uncomfortable and asked to try a smaller bike.
The original Strider was much more manageable. The handle bars and seat are adjustable height, and we were able to get a seat with a longer seatpost for Silas. The folks at Ferris Wheels were so nice and helpful. We lucked out and were helped by the owner who was absolutely awesome! He spent over 30 minutes with us on the tennis court around the corner testing out different options. We finally settled on ST-4 Strider - blue for Zoe and green for Silas. They rode them right out of the store,

The bikes only weigh just over 6 pounds so they can lift them in and out of the van themselves.
These are gonna be awesome!
