Best Pals

And so it begins...

Around 2 months they became aware of one another.

At 4 months they started holding hands and grabbing faces.

At 5 months they started smiling at one another and looking for each other right when they get up in the morning.

The last few weeks they've been stealing toys. And as of tonight they can share a good laugh and a good toy (Thanks, Emily & Maddie for the "Musini"!). I had been out of the nursery for a couple of minutes and when I started around the corner this is what I happened upon. I grabbed the video camera to try and catch them without breaking up the party. I was successful; the only sad part is that we can't see Silas' face, but I think his laugh says it all...

Well it's been a busy 3 years since I last posted! Stay tuned as we may have more posts coming now that it looks like I have a new contributor... Silas recently read a book called "Starting Your Own Blog", and now he is bound and determined for us to let him start his own blog! We convinced him that he should start out by drafting content and a posting calendar. We made templates this morning and he wrote his first "post" today!

Outside

As with most milestones, S&Z have been taking their sweet time when it comes to language development. I've tried to relax about it because one (of the many) things they have taught me over the last year is that they will eventually meet all the milestones and they will do it on their own schedule. Not when their friends do it, not on each other's schedule, and definitely not when the books say it will happen. I have exerted a lot of mental energy worrying about these things, and I've finally decided that it's really not necessary. As expected, their receptive language has skyrocketed over the last several months. I can now ask them to do things that involve getting something from another room, and most of the time (if they are so inclined) they will carry out the request. They are learning the names of, and pointing to, various body parts ('belly' is the current favorite for both of them). They are producing more animal sounds - they have a specific high-...

The Best of Project 366

2012 is coming to a close and I have officially completed Project 366 ! I managed to take and post and keep track of 365 photos out of 366 total days this year. I only missed one day and it was for a pretty good cause . Believe me, these pictures don't take themselves. I shot just under 7000 pictures this year. Once I got an iPhone in March all of the pictures were taken with my phone (~ 5500 pictures!). The camera on the iPhone is really good, I always have it with me, and I like playing around with the filters and other editing tools available in photography apps like Instagram, Camera+, Diptic, and Gridditor. Since I have put so much time, love and energy into Project 366 I thought I should select a few "Best Of's". I had a great time putting this together, and I hope you enjoy these highlights as well!
