365: Day 360

12/26/13: I just caught a numbering issue that goes all the way back to APRIL, so I'm skipping 359 and correcting the error now with day 360. Ugh.

Derek and I decided that we're done with the minivan and he's been car shopping for the last few months. We took advantage of my parents being here and headed to the Honda dealership in the morning in order to hopefully do the deal. Zoe & Silas had a fun day playing with Grandma & Grandpa (and with lots of new toys!)!


After negotiating for 2-1/2 hours we finally shook hands and started the paperwork to become the happy owners of a 2014 Honda Pilot! Many thanks to Mom & Dave for holding down the fort all day with the kids - we couldn't have done it without your help!

Summer Nights

As we hit the end of July we are relishing the relaxed summer nights around here. Walks to the corner store after work- Kitten snoozes in the window- Playing outside after dinner- And after dinner bike rides in the park aplenty. The best part is when they ride down the "big hill" out of the woods and we make the loop home. These are the days.

Today

Today I went to a yoga class for the first time in far too many years. It felt wonderful and pushed me out of my comfort zone. I can't wait to go back! Today Derek gave Silas his traditional mid-summer haircut. Today the weather was perfect and we enjoyed bike rides (them) / a walk (me) in the park after lunch. Today Zoe chased the cats until they succumbed to her love and adoration. Today I put the garbage on the curb for weekly pickup and realized that we didn't have any! We recycle and compost far more than we throw away. I am grateful to be able to teach Zoe & Silas these habits. Empty trash barrel Countertop compost bin  Backyard compost bin that we bought at Town Hall Food compost, including the hair from Silas' haircut today! Today I checked on the rooftop vegetable patio garden - it's doing great! Today we went school supply shopping so that I can enjoy the last month of summer without worrying abou...
