Bottle It

After our vacation ended last year I put together a collage frame of photos taken in Maine to bring to work. The collage sits in my window sill and is a great reminder of what is really important, especially when daily work life is often so stressful.

This year I took over 350 pictures in 4 days, so I had lots to choose from when I decided to print a set of new photos for the frame.

I also (literally) bottled up some memories of the beach via an idea I saw on Pinterest. I put some sand I scooped from Race Point Beach along with a few seashells and a piece of drift wood into an old blue bell jar. In the background I put a photo of the kids building sand castles. I will bring this memento into work for my office as well.

What a great way to preserve awesome vacation memories!

Silas' Blog

Well it's been a busy 3 years since I last posted! Stay tuned as we may have more posts coming now that it looks like I have a new contributor... Silas recently read a book called "Starting Your Own Blog", and now he is bound and determined for us to let him start his own blog! We convinced him that he should start out by drafting content and a posting calendar. We made templates this morning and he wrote his first "post" today!

Today

Today Derek gave Silas his traditional mid-summer haircut. Today the weather was perfect and we enjoyed bike rides (them) / a walk (me) in the park after lunch. Today Zoe chased the cats until they succumbed to her love and adoration. Today I put the garbage on the curb for weekly pickup and realized that we didn't have any! We recycle and compost far more than we throw away. I am grateful to be able to teach Zoe & Silas these habits. Empty trash barrel Countertop compost bin  Backyard compost bin that we bought at Town Hall Food compost, including the hair from Silas' haircut today! Today I checked on the rooftop vegetable patio garden - it's doing great! Today we went school supply shopping so that I can enjoy the last month of summer without worrying abou...

Summer Nights

As we hit the end of July we are relishing the relaxed summer nights around here. Walks to the corner store after work- Kitten snoozes in the window- Playing outside after dinner- And after dinner bike rides in the park aplenty. The best part is when they ride down the "big hill" out of the woods and we make the loop home. These are the days.
