Easter Egg Hunt

This is the first year that we have done Easter baskets and an egg hunt for the kids. I have so many fond memories of Easter as a kid - probably because my birthday often fell very close to this holiday. Last night I put everything together and we dispersed a bunch of eggs around the living room and dining room before Derek left for work.


Derek went to work early in hopes that he could make it home before S&Z woke up this morning. It worked out perfectly - he walked in at 6:55am, just as they had started talking on the monitor. They were so surprised when they came out to find the baskets and a fun game to play before breakfast!


Inside of each egg I put either 2 jelly beans or a pretzel m&m. S&Z haven't had very much candy yet, so their eyes lit up upon tasting so much sugar before breakfast.


What a fun way to start this spring holiday!

Today

Today I went to a yoga class for the first time in far too many years. It felt wonderful and pushed me out of my comfort zone. I can't wait to go back! Today Derek gave Silas his traditional mid-summer haircut. Today the weather was perfect and we enjoyed bike rides (them) / a walk (me) in the park after lunch. Today Zoe chased the cats until they succumbed to her love and adoration. Today I put the garbage on the curb for weekly pickup and realized that we didn't have any! We recycle and compost far more than we throw away. I am grateful to be able to teach Zoe & Silas these habits. Empty trash barrel Countertop compost bin  Backyard compost bin that we bought at Town Hall Food compost, including the hair from Silas' haircut today! Silas, 7/26/17

The context for this post is that S&Z started two weeks of daily swimming lessons in the outdoor town pool on Monday. The beginning of this week also happened to start with two of the coldest days of the summer!
