Crib Wall Project

The handprint and footprint canvases that we made last summer have always hung above Silas and Zoe's cribs. I was so excited the day we finished them that I hung them rather haphazardly. Recently Silas has been able to reach his prints and he pulled them off the wall, along with the nails. At Target today we finally got the brackets that I needed to hang the canvases more solidly. After S&Z woke up from a 3 hour (!!!) long nap today, we got to work on the project.

First we nailed the brackets onto the canvases,

Then we hung the canvases on the wall in their bedroom.

The wall along their cribs is quite large, so we also picked up a wall applique set that is inspired by Eric Carle's book, "The Very Hungry Catepillar".

I think it turned out pretty cute, and the kids can't stop talking about it!

The wall also has a meaningful theme for us - Silas and Zoe's little baby footprints and handprints, surrounded by the story of a catepillar that eats and grows and metamorphoses into a beautiful butterfly. It's cheesy, but that's kinda where I'm at these days :) Life is good, and I'll take it.

Silas' Blog

Well it's been a busy 3 years since I last posted! Stay tuned as we may have more posts coming now that it looks like I have a new contributor... Silas recently read a book called "Starting Your Own Blog", and now he is bound and determined for us to let him start his own blog! We convinced him that he should start out by drafting content and a posting calendar. We made templates this morning and he wrote his first "post" today!

Parks

We decided to get Zoe's haircut on Saturday morning at a place geared towards kids called Snip-Its . Neither Derek nor I anticipated what a meltdown Zoe was going to have. The haircut is half-assed at best and Derek will have to fix it when she's more calm. We were so traumatized that we headed to the park to get the day going on a better foot! We went back to Larz Anderson, the park where the  Psychiatry picnic was held on Thursday . It is really close to our house and is lovely and shaded. I think it's one of my new favorite spots! The kids like it too :) S&Z love playing with wood chips, so there was a lot of that! Snacks were enjoyed on the bench and I tried to get a few pictures of the haircut... Excuse me, I'm chewing pretzels :) This morning we met up with Wendy, Dave, Sydney & Ivy at the Newton Center Playground. It was HOT HOT HOT, and there wasn't too much shade. The kids have inherited my low tolerance for heat, so they spe...

The Best of Project 366

2012 is coming to a close and I have officially completed Project 366 ! I managed to take and post and keep track of 365 photos out of 366 total days this year. I only missed one day and it was for a pretty good cause . Believe me, these pictures don't take themselves. I shot just under 7000 pictures this year. Once I got an iPhone in March all of the pictures were taken with my phone (~ 5500 pictures!). The camera on the iPhone is really good, I always have it with me, and I like playing around with the filters and other editing tools available in photography apps like Instagram, Camera+, Diptic, and Gridditor. Since I have put so much time, love and energy into Project 366 I thought I should select a few "Best Of's". I had a great time putting this together, and I hope you enjoy these highlights as well!
