She Does Laundry

Zoe has become such a little helper. You might remember how the kids like to help putting the groceries away. These days Zoe in particular is really into helping me do laundry. She will load and unload the dryer,

And tonight she was totally cracking me up while I was folding the clothes. We were watching the news and she must have been watching me shake out each piece of clothing before I folded it. Next thing I know she took over emptying the basket, shaking out the clothes, and putting them into a pile for me to fold. She even watched the news just like I had been doing!

It's kinda scary watching her act like such a little Mini-Me right now. I'm sure these are the things I'll remember when all of a sudden she doesn't want anything to do with me anymore, so this one is going on the blog :)

Silas' Blog

Well it's been a busy 3 years since I last posted! Stay tuned as we may have more posts coming now that it looks like I have a new contributor... Silas recently read a book called "Starting Your Own Blog", and now he is bound and determined for us to let him start his own blog! We convinced him that he should start out by drafting content and a posting calendar. We made templates this morning and he wrote his first "post" today!

Today

Today Derek gave Silas his traditional mid-summer haircut. Today the weather was perfect and we enjoyed bike rides (them) / a walk (me) in the park after lunch. Today Zoe chased the cats until they succumbed to her love and adoration. Today I put the garbage on the curb for weekly pickup and realized that we didn't have any! We recycle and compost far more than we throw away. I am grateful to be able to teach Zoe & Silas these habits. Empty trash barrel Countertop compost bin  Backyard compost bin that we bought at Town Hall Food compost, including the hair from Silas' haircut today! Today I checked on the rooftop vegetable patio garden - it's doing great! Today we went school supply shopping so that I can enjoy the last month of summer without worrying abou...

Summer Nights

As we hit the end of July we are relishing the relaxed summer nights around here. Walks to the corner store after work- Kitten snoozes in the window- Playing outside after dinner- And after dinner bike rides in the park aplenty. The best part is when they ride down the "big hill" out of the woods and we make the loop home. These are the days.
