Spring is in the Air...

... and I have been itching to do some gardening. Click here to see a cute post from two years ago when I was barely pregnant. That was our second year planting a vegetable garden. For obvious reasons, we had our hands a little too full last year to do any gardening. Instead, we got our fill of seasonal and delicious food from our CSA and the weekly farmer's market in Roslindale Square. This year we are hoping to ease back into things by spending lots of time in the backyard and on the back deck. Some hanging baskets would really spruce things up on the deck so we went out to Lowe's Garden Center first thing this morning. Unfortunately, they didn't have the coconut basket liners that we need, but we did have fun looking at the annuals and thinking about what to plant.

We're dealing with shade plants so our only real options are begonias and impatiens, but it's fun to look around anyway :) Hopefully I'll have some pictures of what we put together in the next week or two!

  1. I want a garden!!! I raided Alberto's parent's garden yesterday and brought home lots of fresh rosemary, sage and mint. She also gives us lettuce, and soon we'll have tomatoes, zucchini and eggplant. If I can't have one myself, the in-laws garden is the next best thing!

Silas' Blog

Well it's been a busy 3 years since I last posted! Stay tuned as we may have more posts coming now that it looks like I have a new contributor... Silas recently read a book called "Starting Your Own Blog", and now he is bound and determined for us to let him start his own blog! We convinced him that he should start out by drafting content and a posting calendar. We made templates this morning and he wrote his first "post" today!

Outside

As with most milestones, S&Z have been taking their sweet time when it comes to language development. I've tried to relax about it because one (of the many) things they have taught me over the last year is that they will eventually meet all the milestones and they will do it on their own schedule. Not when their friends do it, not on each other's schedule, and definitely not when the books say it will happen. I have exerted a lot of mental energy worrying about these things, and I've finally decided that it's really not necessary. As expected, their receptive language has skyrocketed over the last several months. I can now ask them to do things that involve getting something from another room, and most of the time (if they are so inclined) they will carry out the request. They are learning the names of, and pointing to, various body parts ('belly' is the current favorite for both of them). They are producing more animal sounds - they have a specific high-...

The Best of Project 366

2012 is coming to a close and I have officially completed Project 366 ! I managed to take and post and keep track of 365 photos out of 366 total days this year. I only missed one day and it was for a pretty good cause . Believe me, these pictures don't take themselves. I shot just under 7000 pictures this year. Once I got an iPhone in March all of the pictures were taken with my phone (~ 5500 pictures!). The camera on the iPhone is really good, I always have it with me, and I like playing around with the filters and other editing tools available in photography apps like Instagram, Camera+, Diptic, and Gridditor. Since I have put so much time, love and energy into Project 366 I thought I should select a few "Best Of's". I had a great time putting this together, and I hope you enjoy these highlights as well!
