Zoe Started It

This is a follow-up to the Rockin' the Booster Seats post. I was going through videos from last month and found this one of Zoe rocking in her seat. You can tell by my reaction that this was a new thing for her. Additionally, Silas was just starting to show an interest in copying her. All I can say is, she started it!

Rockin' the Booster Seats

Silas' new favorite thing is making his booster seat rock back and forth. As soon as he starts doing it, Zoe normally joins in too. They really got going again after dinner tonight! Here is a video I shot of them after dinner mid-September. Silas now loves to show off his new standing skills! He was shrieking up a storm all day so I caught him standing & shrieking in his favorite spot after dinner tonight.

Birthday birthday birthday!!!

I have always LOVED birthdays! You can imagine how excited I have been to celebrate Silas & Zoe's 1st birthday!! What a milestone for all of us!!! The day started with a gift for all 3 of us (Derek was at work) - Silas & Zoe slept in until 6:50am! I sang happy birthday first thing upon entering their room - I actually shot a video but I won't submit you all to the pain of hearing me sing when I'm half awake (or fully awake, for that matter)! Silas decided to show off his new solo standing skills by promptly pulling himself up in his crib. We had a great breakfast as usual, And we did the the birthday photo shoot when they got up from their morning nap, We had some great family time once Derek got home from work. Since our last lunch outing a few weeks ago was such a success, we decided to take them out for birthday lunch! We went to Dogwood Cafe in JP, and they did so great! I finally caught a video of Zoe jamming out, as I've alluded to in recent posts. They h...

This Time Last Year...

Two of my friends and co-workers are pregnant this fall and they both have due dates that are very close to what mine was last year. Nora is actually having boy-girl twins! As Nora's belly grows like mine did and Silas & Zoe's birthday approaches, I've been thinking a lot about what was going on at this time last year. The links to my last two blog posts before they were born are below. http://thebostontwins.blogspot.com/2009/09/bedrest-for-me.html http://thebostontwins.blogspot.com/2009/10/icing-on-cake.html My water broke one year ago tonight. I was on bedrest by this point, and (attempting to) relax at home on a Sunday night. Derek went to the space "for the last time". I poo-poo'd him and said that he would have plenty more time to go to the space, because I was convinced I would make it until 37-38 weeks. Silas and Zoe apparently had other plans... Around 9:30pm my water broke and by 10:00 or so labor was starting. Derek's music space is about 3...

Birthdays on the Brain

Three of Silas & Zoe's best friends turned one this month! Sydney & Ivy were first on September 15th. They had a very fun birthday party in their backyard! Upon arrival, first thing was first - get the kids fed. Everyone had plenty of time to play before cake. The ball pit was definitely Silas & Zoe's favorite! Then it was cake time! Unfortunately we missed the gift opening because S&Z were all played out, but it looked like the girls got some really fun stuff! Oliver's birthday was on September 19th. He also had a very fun backyard birthday bash! There were so many fun cars, trikes, and sports stuff to explore! Those kids were busy!!! And then it was cake time for Oliver! Happy birthday to Sydney, Ivy, and Oliver - we were so happy to be able to celebrate with everyone. Congratulations to Wendy & Dave and Vanessa & Greg too! The hard part is over, right? ;) Silas and Zoe turn 1 on October 5th and they have so many people who love them that we are sp...

Zoe Lee

Zoe Lee was born 2 minutes after her brother, weighing 6 pounds, 3 ounces. We joke that it had to be Silas who caused my water to break at 35w, 4d because Zoe just wasn't ready to be here yet. Initial respiratory distress sent her to the NICU, and she ended up staying 21 days in the hospital. It was the hardest 3 weeks of our lives. We were so thrilled when Zoe was discharged and we were all home together as a family. Zoe was a cranky baby who had a rough start of things. She had pretty bad reflux which led to a love-hate relationship with her bottle. It took a little longer for Zoe's personality to start to emerge, and she made us work pretty hard for those initial social interactions. Zoe's personality changed dramatically as soon as we introduced solids around 5-1/2 months. Derek and I wondered aloud one day in April about who had swapped out our cranky, tempermental daughter for a smiley, happy baby who was full of laughs. Thankfully the new Zoe has stuck around ever si...
