Today

Today I woke up early to drive my mom to the airport. It was bittersweet to say goodbye after a 2-week long visit.

Today was Derek's scheduled day off but he picked up an overtime shift from 10am-6pm. Since I was going to have S&Z alone all day, I knew we needed to get out of the house. The rain stopped in time for us to meet up with Tracy and the kids to go to the Farmer's Market. Of course we had to stop along the way to say hi to the chickens.

The kids spent over an hour running around, playing with leaves and sticks.

Today S&Z took their usual 2-1/2 hour long afternoon nap. It will be a sad, sad day when that glorious downtime goes away.

Today it was 70 degrees so we pulled out the bubble machine after nap.

It's almost the end of October. Go big or go home.

Toto and the Velveteen Rabbit watched all the fun.

Tonight Derek decided to make Pumpkin Oatmeal Scotchies with S&Z when he got home from work.

A yummy way to end a busy day!

Silas' Blog

Well it's been a busy 3 years since I last posted! Stay tuned as we may have more posts coming now that it looks like I have a new contributor... Silas recently read a book called "Starting Your Own Blog", and now he is bound and determined for us to let him start his own blog! We convinced him that he should start out by drafting content and a posting calendar. We made templates this morning and he wrote his first "post" today!

Today

Today I went to a yoga class for the first time in far too many years. It felt wonderful and pushed me out of my comfort zone. I can't wait to go back! Today Derek gave Silas his traditional mid-summer haircut. Today the weather was perfect and we enjoyed bike rides (them) / a walk (me) in the park after lunch. Today Zoe chased the cats until they succumbed to her love and adoration. Today I put the garbage on the curb for weekly pickup and realized that we didn't have any! We recycle and compost far more than we throw away. I am grateful to be able to teach Zoe & Silas these habits. Empty trash barrel Countertop compost bin  Backyard compost bin that we bought at Town Hall Food compost, including the hair from Silas' haircut today! Today I checked on the rooftop vegetable patio garden - it's doing great! Today we went school supply shopping so that I can enjoy the last month of summer without worrying abou...

Summer Nights

As we hit the end of July we are relishing the relaxed summer nights around here. Walks to the corner store after work- Kitten snoozes in the window- Playing outside after dinner- And after dinner bike rides in the park aplenty. The best part is when they ride down the "big hill" out of the woods and we make the loop home. These are the days.
