Family Pictures

My dad & Mary visited us from Minneapolis recently and we were so happy to see them! The weather was gorgeous, so we took advantage of our new zoo pass and went to see the animals. 

Zoe was in fine form on our way through the gate.


First stop, zebras!!


We stopped for a picnic lunch, and then explored some well-climbed trees.


We headed to see the gorillas after lunch.


It was a great morning of fresh air and lots of exercise running around the exhibits!

For Mother's Day we met up with Derek's family for brunch. The kids were all dressed up, so of course I got a few pictures!


It's hard living so far away from my family, so I am very thankful that they are healthy enough (and willing!) to visit us in Boston!!

Summer Nights

As we hit the end of July we are relishing the relaxed summer nights around here. Walks to the corner store after work- Kitten snoozes in the window- Playing outside after dinner- And after dinner bike rides in the park aplenty. The best part is when they ride down the "big hill" out of the woods and we make the loop home. These are the days.

Today

Today I went to a yoga class for the first time in far too many years. It felt wonderful and pushed me out of my comfort zone. I can't wait to go back! Today Derek gave Silas his traditional mid-summer haircut. Today the weather was perfect and we enjoyed bike rides (them) / a walk (me) in the park after lunch. Today Zoe chased the cats until they succumbed to her love and adoration. Today I put the garbage on the curb for weekly pickup and realized that we didn't have any! We recycle and compost far more than we throw away. I am grateful to be able to teach Zoe & Silas these habits. Empty trash barrel Countertop compost bin  Backyard compost bin that we bought at Town Hall Food compost, including the hair from Silas' haircut today! Today I checked on the rooftop vegetable patio garden - it's doing great! Today we went school supply shopping so that I can enjoy the last month of summer without worrying abou...
