Como Park Zoo

On Monday we headed to the Como Park Zoo with Auntie Stephanie and my Dad and Mary. First stop, the Como Town Train! It was another hot and humid day so we stopped by the mister to cool down, And then had some popcorn in the shade.  We saw zebras, bison, gorillas, and polar bears! And then we headed to an indoor cafe for lunch.  It's so fun to watch S&Z share some of the things they love, like animals, with Auntie and G&G!

Sunday, June 23

We said goodbye to my parents on Sunday, but we got some family photos before they left. We saw a garter snake while we were standing around.  The kids thought that was pretty cool. We met up with Stephanie & Jim and my Dad & Mary for lunch.  In the afternoon we headed to see S&Z's first play at the Children's Theatre Company. "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" was running, so my Aunt Sally and Uncle John got tickets for us and their grand kids to attend.  It was hilarious and the kids loved it!  We headed out to John and Sally's for dinner and QT with the rest of the clan.  Little cousins, And big cousins all had a blast! It was great to have everyone together for the first time in 3 years! Many thanks to Auntie Sally and Uncle John for a very fun day!!

Beating the Heat by the Lake

Derek got back from Iowa late Friday  afternoon so we hit the lake as soon as he got back to cool down. It took a little while to coax S&Z into the water, but it was pretty warm so eventually they went for it. It felt so good to swim in a lake! We headed out for another swim this afternoon. Silas made "hot curried soup" with some sand, seaweed, and lake water. Happy Grandma, Happy Momma, Happy Us.

Beating the Heat, Sprinkler Style

It's been hot and humid in MN so we took advantage of Sue & Bob's lawn sprinklers to cool off on Thursday afternoon. S&Z were reluctant to run through the sprinklers so Uncle Bob grabbed their little hands and coaxed them through. Once the seal was broken they had a blast in the sprinklers! What a great way to beat the heat!
