Words

Because Zoe and Silas receive weekly speech therapy through early intervention, combined with the fact that their annual re-assessment for EI is coming up at the beginning of July, I have been keeping a running list of the words, sounds, and gestures that each kid has acquired. I want this list to go into the blog book I'll make for them again this year, so I decided to write this entry for the sake of posterity :)

Now that Silas' vocabulary development has picked up, he tends to start using words that Zoe already has on her list. Both kids regularly produce: mama, dada, this, that, hi, night-night, outside, shoes, up, down, hot, no, duckie, moon, cheese, banana, car, uh-oh, and keys. Additionally, Zoe has baby, pee pee, hat, apple, bus, choo choo, beep beep, and bye bye,. Silas also has on, off, and go.

Through EI they have learned a handful of signs, and those have been both helpful and fun. Both kids regularly use: more, milk, water, eat, for me, all done, please, help, puppy, bear, baby, cat, and apple.

Like most kids, they love to make animal sounds, like roar, meow, woof woof, moo, quack quack, monkey sounds, and chicken sounds.

We also love to sing songs with actions! A few of their favorites include "Row Your Boat", "Ring Around the Rosie", "Itsy Bitsy Spider", "Twinkle Twinkle", and "Old MacDonald".

They're absolutely hilarious these days and keep us on our toes!

Silas' Blog

Well it's been a busy 3 years since I last posted! Stay tuned as we may have more posts coming now that it looks like I have a new contributor... Silas recently read a book called "Starting Your Own Blog", and now he is bound and determined for us to let him start his own blog! We convinced him that he should start out by drafting content and a posting calendar. We made templates this morning and he wrote his first "post" today!

Parks

We decided to get Zoe's haircut on Saturday morning at a place geared towards kids called Snip-Its . Neither Derek nor I anticipated what a meltdown Zoe was going to have. The haircut is half-assed at best and Derek will have to fix it when she's more calm. We were so traumatized that we headed to the park to get the day going on a better foot! We went back to Larz Anderson, the park where the  Psychiatry picnic was held on Thursday . It is really close to our house and is lovely and shaded. I think it's one of my new favorite spots! The kids like it too :) S&Z love playing with wood chips, so there was a lot of that! Snacks were enjoyed on the bench and I tried to get a few pictures of the haircut... Excuse me, I'm chewing pretzels :) This morning we met up with Wendy, Dave, Sydney & Ivy at the Newton Center Playground. It was HOT HOT HOT, and there wasn't too much shade. The kids have inherited my low tolerance for heat, so they spe...

The Best of Project 366

2012 is coming to a close and I have officially completed Project 366 ! I managed to take and post and keep track of 365 photos out of 366 total days this year. I only missed one day and it was for a pretty good cause . Believe me, these pictures don't take themselves. I shot just under 7000 pictures this year. Once I got an iPhone in March all of the pictures were taken with my phone (~ 5500 pictures!). The camera on the iPhone is really good, I always have it with me, and I like playing around with the filters and other editing tools available in photography apps like Instagram, Camera+, Diptic, and Gridditor. Since I have put so much time, love and energy into Project 366 I thought I should select a few "Best Of's". I had a great time putting this together, and I hope you enjoy these highlights as well!
