Christmas Eve

My parents arrived in Boston on Friday morning. This is the first Christmas holiday that they have spent here with us, and it's the first time we've all been together for Christmas in quite a few years. I'm off work until January 3rd, so I've been excited to enjoy some quality family time!

Because of crazy work schedules we decided to celebrate with Derek's family on Christmas Eve. We hosted his parents and his brother Doug's family here for a noon time meal. Since our Thanksgiving meal was such a success, we decided to make a turkey again.

We also made mashed potatoes, wild rice and corn casserole; Joanne made dessert. Everything was delicious!

After that it was kid gift opening madness!

They had a blast playing with all their new toys, which included a slide,

Doctor's kits,

And big building blocks.

It was wonderful to have both of our families together this Christmas.

We are truly blessed.

Silas' Blog

Well it's been a busy 3 years since I last posted! Stay tuned as we may have more posts coming now that it looks like I have a new contributor... Silas recently read a book called "Starting Your Own Blog", and now he is bound and determined for us to let him start his own blog! We convinced him that he should start out by drafting content and a posting calendar. We made templates this morning and he wrote his first "post" today!

The Best of Project 366

2012 is coming to a close and I have officially completed Project 366 ! I managed to take and post and keep track of 365 photos out of 366 total days this year. I only missed one day and it was for a pretty good cause . Believe me, these pictures don't take themselves. I shot just under 7000 pictures this year. Once I got an iPhone in March all of the pictures were taken with my phone (~ 5500 pictures!). The camera on the iPhone is really good, I always have it with me, and I like playing around with the filters and other editing tools available in photography apps like Instagram, Camera+, Diptic, and Gridditor. Since I have put so much time, love and energy into Project 366 I thought I should select a few "Best Of's". I had a great time putting this together, and I hope you enjoy these highlights as well! The Blog Book is Here!!!

My friend, Tom, told me about a website where you can order a bound copy of your blog. I've had it on my radar for awhile, but I finally just got around to making a book of the first year of entries. It starts with 'Icing on the Cake' , the last entry before they were born, and it ends with Halloween . It turned out better than I could have imagined! I cried when I opened it... One hundred ninety-four pages of love, photos, stories, and milestones!
