Beanie Babies

My stepmom, Mary, collected Beanie Babies back in the '90s when they were in their heyday. Over the years I gathered quite a collection of my own, like 'Garcia', 'Ally', and 'Spike', and 'Stretch'. They all had a connection to nicknames and things I was into at different points in my life. I have moved the box of beanies from place to place, and ultimately from Minneapolis to Boston. I hung onto them because I thought one day I might have kids of my own who would like to play with them.

I unpacked and washed the beanies last year and put them in one of the bins in the toy chest. It has just been more recently that the kids are interested in playing with them, naming them, etc.

Today we had The Brennan's over for brunch. S&Z had a blast playing with Holly, almost 4 years, and Kylee, a newly minted 1-year-old. At one point I suggested we pull out the beanie babies. The kids were SO CUTE and absolutely enthralled.

Then Derek got into the mix,

I am so glad that I moved the beanies from apartment to apartment, in hopes that my hypothetical future children might like to play with them someday. That day has finally come :)

Silas' Blog

Well it's been a busy 3 years since I last posted! Stay tuned as we may have more posts coming now that it looks like I have a new contributor... Silas recently read a book called "Starting Your Own Blog", and now he is bound and determined for us to let him start his own blog! We convinced him that he should start out by drafting content and a posting calendar. We made templates this morning and he wrote his first "post" today!

The Best of Project 366

2012 is coming to a close and I have officially completed Project 366 ! I managed to take and post and keep track of 365 photos out of 366 total days this year. I only missed one day and it was for a pretty good cause . Believe me, these pictures don't take themselves. I shot just under 7000 pictures this year. Once I got an iPhone in March all of the pictures were taken with my phone (~ 5500 pictures!). The camera on the iPhone is really good, I always have it with me, and I like playing around with the filters and other editing tools available in photography apps like Instagram, Camera+, Diptic, and Gridditor. Since I have put so much time, love and energy into Project 366 I thought I should select a few "Best Of's". I had a great time putting this together, and I hope you enjoy these highlights as well! The Blog Book is Here!!!

My friend, Tom, told me about a website where you can order a bound copy of your blog. I've had it on my radar for awhile, but I finally just got around to making a book of the first year of entries. It starts with 'Icing on the Cake' , the last entry before they were born, and it ends with Halloween . It turned out better than I could have imagined! I cried when I opened it... One hundred ninety-four pages of love, photos, stories, and milestones!
